quitting smoking

I'm 39+2 and I'm really trying to quick smoking cigarettes before my little girl gets here. I know I should have quit when I found out I was pregnant, but I just never did. I'm looking for ways to substitute the smoking for something else. Any ideas? Please don't judge or be rude, I'm trying!

Yes try sunflower seeds. My aunt was able to wing off cigarettes with sunflower seeds

ITs a mind game. If we can all rewire out brains to crave something else instead of a CIG, I think we can quit. But like I said, easier said then done.

I definitely know what you mean about the anxiety. That was the biggest problem about me quitting. I got so anxious all the time causing me to smoke but I realized at the time, the previous relationship and situation I was in was causing the anxiety. After cutting a few loose ends, that made quitting much easier.

That's the main reason I want to quit. My babies father isn't in her life so I'm taking care of her finically by myself. I get very anxious when I don't have one. I mainly want one when I'm in a car, when I wake up, and after I eat.

I like that putting the cig money in a jar idea!!  Then you are getting something out of quitting and realizing how much of a money drain it is!

I smoked wiTh all my kids so far and they were all healthy weight and no issues from smoking. Every Dr that hears it is baffled, they can't explain it.

I was a big smokerrrrr before I got pregnant I slowed down a lot when I found out when I was about 3 months along I stopped buying them if I wanted one I would just take a drag off my husbands then I would be ok I also lived on carrots and celery I would back a Baggie before I got in the car to go anywhere and would munch on that because my biggest issue was smoking while I drive and now I'm 35 weeks and don't have the urge or want at all they actually disgust me! Good luck you can do it :)

I have been trying to quit but is easier said than done. It seems like I cut back a lot but I have been so stressed that the harder I try to cut back more the more I smoke. We had cut down to a pack would last my husband and I almost two days. Now with all the stress a pack is not lasting one day. It started just before Christmas and has continued since the kids has been out of school. Hopefully when they go back we can cut back down we will see because they start school back tomorrow. Good luck to you because the stress of trying to quit makes you want to smoke more.

My dad quit smoking when I was 5 because the secondhand smoke was making me very ill. What he did was buy a bunch of popsicles and whenever he craved a cigarette, he'd eat one just so he could have something in his mouth. He told me they taste a heck of a lot better than cigs, too. Good luck to you hun. :)

theres a 1-800 number for quitting smoking. or you can try drinking a glass of ice water every time you get an urge. or sucking/chewing on a straw, chewing gum, sunflower seeds, snacking lightly in general. rubberband on your wrist. taking a brisk walk. theres all sorts of things you can do.

I also recommend figuring out what makes you crave the most. for me, I have to have a cig not to long after waking up, and after eating. I personally believe if I can break those 2 habits first, then I could probably quit.

I smoked all the way through with my first. he ended up coming 5 weeks early and the dr who delievered him kept trying to blame it on me smoking. im sure that helped but wasn't the only reason. im a fairly tiny girl so I don't think I had anymore room to grow a baby in me, as well as I was highly stressed all the time, and there are these little bottles of stuff at my job and in the summer they bust randomly and the smell is so horrible and gives people the worst headaches, well they had been busting left and right that week.

this pregnancy, im aiming to quit but not having much luck yet.. but im only 10 weeks and I've only known for about a month now. so theres still time to accomplish this task.

I have one the electric things you can pick any flavor, put it in there, and smoke it. But it hurts my chest more and makes my throat sore. So I don't even use it. I think if I set my mind to it I can do it. Its kind of like loosing weight. You have to change your mind set, and I lost a lot of weight before I got pregnant.

When I was trying to quit, I found that sunflower seeds helped me a lot. I bought a huge bag from the grocery store. It kept the habit and repetition of me wanting to put something to my mouth at ease. I had tried the electric cigarettes and the vaporizers but that only made me crave a cigarette even more. Really don't recommend trying that. Good luck.

Only u have the power to stop. Its a mindset. So I dont believe telling u any suggestions will be anything u havent heard before. The decision to not smoke is all u can change. Sry but if u havent stopped by now the odds of u stopping are slim. sry im more of a tough love kinda person. Good luck.

I just recently quit amoking like three days ago cuz my lil man is due next month. I weaned myself off tho. I would smoke half a pack a day then I went to 3-5 a day then 2 a day then half a drag a day and done! It worked well for me. If I wanted a cigarette I usually chewed gum or sucked on sunflower seeds.
