And if people find it that hard to give up then maybe try giving up before you get pregnant!!!

Not a smoker either but I have heard in some cases smoking can lead to SIDS (sudden infant death) even if the baby seems perfectly healthy u don't know the damage it could have caused long term . I went to see my friend 3 weeks ago after she ha her baby and my friend who was with me had to wear an apron over cause the nurses were freaking out because the baby smelt like smoke from all the smokers  passing the baby around. Any bad habbit is hard to quit though I understand but you got this just don't let it have control over u  ur stronger then that ! Good luk

Yall are selfish! It's hard to give up the things you love, but isn't it worth it for a healthy baby? It is for me. You have to think about your little one and how there's warnings on the pack for a reason.  It's very important to quit even if you know someone who smoked there entire pregnancy and still had a healthy baby, you might not be so lucky, is it really worth putting your baby at risk?

Smoking is not good at all! Talk to your doctor and see if they have some ways you can stop. You don't want to risk anything like the baby having a low birth weight or breathing problems. I'm sure they can help you

I would quit cold turkey. Some people who smoke have perfectly healthy babies and others have problems with theirs. It's all worth it for the health of your baby to quit!

I quit cold turkey after watching a video about how Everytime u smoke it cuts off oxygen to baby. But it was very hard. And it's sometimes harder for some people. Find something like suckers or Popsicles to keep in your mouth when u have a craving. Helped me tremendously. Good luck!

She asked questions that were answered!!!!! At what point did anyone say 'yeahhhhh it's fine carry on smoking' not at all just said well done for cutting back and don't feel overly guilty if you need one as we all no how stressful pregnancy can be and every now and again it can't be helped when u have an addiction but I suppose your a non smoker. Don't no why they call this a community support group.. No one offers support just judgement and try's to force their opinion and choices on everyone else, not everyone is as strong and offering SUPPORT is better than making the poor girl feel terrible for having one cigarette, topics like this shouldn't be talked about #overopinionatedpeople

I use nicorete gum when I crave one really bad...  my doctor wanted the patch but I thought that's worse having nicotine go right into my  blood stream. You can do it!!!! I know and understand how hard it is..  take it one day at a time girl

Just knowing that smoking is starving your baby of oxygen should be enough for anyone to quit straight away, its the precious babys that are more important than a craving/habit/addiction... the love for a baby and wanting the best for a baby should be enough for anyone to give up, good luck, you can do it! And can so it now!

I try not to get involved on these posts but I'm gonna put my two cents in. I was smoking a pack a day when I found out I was pregnant. I was able to cut back t half a pack a day... now, I'm stuck here and 15w. I've talked to my normal doctor and my ob about wanting to quit but feeling stuck. My ob is more than happy with my progress so far. She had suggested that I just smoke a half a cigarette instead of a full one. And try to cut back more that way. No one will actually give me anything to help me quit and my ob is afraid of me going completely cold turkey because of the withdraw effects on my body, and therefore the baby as well.

Keep your head up and stay focused. I'm actually at the point where cigarettes taste nasty and the smell from my fiance and I smoking is really bothering me. Hopefully. This will be able to help me.

Really ladies?  Come on.  We hear everywhere that smoking while pregnant can cause harm to the baby and yet we look for reasons to justify ..seems selfish to me. These statistics aren't pulled out of nowhere. Growing up we hear about sacrifices and changes that have to be made for the best interest of a developing baby.. but when time comes.. We ignore what we have been told our whole lives. Is it right.. Is it wrong.. At this point if you haven't quit.. Your need to light up is more important than any problems  that may occur because of it.

That somke goes into your amniotic sac fluid. So yeah she should quit! Also its not ok ro have another! You know what can happen to your child?! Anyway lilbit0803 if I was in your shoes I would make a list of top. Reasons to quit smoking benefits for your baby. When you smoke and things you can do instead list people that can help you maybe you know ppl that have quit. Give yourself rewards for not smoking. Last set yourself a date to be done. I know its hard work but you can do it! One last thkng great job on cutting back you should be proud of yourself for all the work you have put into it!!!

Well maybe you should imply who it is you were talking to cause most the other ladies said they had managed to quit... And don't worry I definatley will not be 'stressing myself'

Did she not ask the question who's baby came out healthy?? So I answered..  And as for motivation to go and light up a cigarette... No I simply said don't give yourself to much of a hard time about it if you want one.. But jenz21 we had a disagreement the other day and I think you just search for people to argue with if I'm quite honest so il leave you to it.

Lol I love how these women who smoked throughout their pregnancy tell u that they did it and baby was ok.  Well um good for them maybe that was just luck! But that isn't always the case. She's asking for help not for motivation to go light up a cigarette now

I think u must look at the bright side and that is that u have cut down. But speak to your doc maybe he could help u quit and give u ideas. I'm not a smoker so I can't really suggest ideas. Good luck.  And remember your babies health should come first

Me too. I used to smoke about 10 a day and was able to quit using the e cig. My husband has been smoking for 13 yrs and he was able to quit with the e cig as well. It can be done if he can do it so can you. We just started off with 24mg e juice still smoking about 3-4 ciggs a day for a week then the next week cut the mg down to 18 and about 2 ciggs a day. Then the next week we did 12mg and one cig a day then no ciggs and 6mg e juice. Untill we got down to 8mg then 6mg then 1mg and finally no nicotine just the e vap. Eventually it gets gross and u wont want the no nocotine one. Trust me i want a cigg often but i refuse and it may seem expensive to get an e cigg and ciggs but it only took about 4 or 5 weeks and you save soooo much money not buying ciggs after that. I was able to fully quit at about 12 weeks pregnant. Dont get me wrong i still crave and i always think maybe ill have one after baby comes but i know it wont just be one so i try to fight the urges. Chew gum or eat lol or lollipops.

I quit smoking cold turkey and I've been smoking for 5 years. A pack a day... it's worth it because you'll feel better after awhile and your baby will be much healthier and you don't have to constantly wonder "is this cigarette harming my baby" I'm now 15 weeks and smoke free for two months... it feels amazing

I took my sister in law to one of her doctors appointments,  & right before we went in she smoked half a cigarette.  Well his heartrate was high, so they hooked her up and monitored his heart rate for an hour until his heartrate finally went down. So yes, try your best. Because every cigarette does have an effect on the baby. Ask your doctor!

I think everybody forgets how and what you have to give up when your pregnant and how hard it is, I smoked through my pregnancy with my first about 3/4 a day and she was two weeks late and had 100% oxygen and I have smoked through this pregnancy too the same amount cutting down from about 15/20 a day and he is a big baby so it hasn't altered his weight at all so I don't let people make me feel to guilty because it's hard there wasn't all these warnings around years ago when women used to smoke 40 a day throught their pregnancys and our parents turned out fine try not to give ureself to much of a hard time, my midwife said if I quit completely I would cause more stress to myself and the baby worse than I would just smoking 3 a day x
