smoking weed while pregnant

I have terrible morning sickness and can't eat anything and I vomit all day, but the only thing that makes me feel better is smoking weed. It eases my stomach pain & gives me my appetite back. Does anyone else do this or have tried it?

Personally this pissed me off because there have been studies that show it harms a fetus. my mother smoked weed when she was pregnant with me and i was born 3 months early and only weighed 1 pd 3 ounces. i fit into the palm of my moms hand when i was born. because of that i was in the hospital for the first 5 months of my life. i missed my first christmas valentines day and easter because of it. i also have asthma bc my lungs didnt develop like normal. i have heart palputations and a hole in my heart. as well as having problems with depression and anxiety because all the problems i went thru. the only thing ive ever smoked is cigarettes and i threw a whole pack out the window the moment i found out bc i was worried about it affect on my baby. no one realizes what kinda damage drugs do to a baby. Ur gonna go thru withdrawls but u can handle them. think about how bad its gonna be for u and multiply that by 100x. thats what your baby is gonna feel.  u need to stop now before u cause long term damage to ur baby. im lucky to be alive. i didnt have but a 1 in 1.5 million chance of surving bc my weight and problems. do u really wanna lose ur baby bc u wanna be selfish and not deal with ur morning sickness?

I had a friend who smoked during her pregnancy and her baby was born with a very low birth weight and he's extremely colicky.. There's nothing that can say for see smoking were caused this but she's not stupid and she blames herself for not doing what's best for her baby and now she has to pay for it with a bay that cries constantly (literally constantly). I noticed this post was a little old so I hope you've found another outlet by now buy good luck none the less!

Ya its fine. I stopped smoking when my morning sickness went away at 2 months with my first. Baby turned out amazing and was obviously drug free. Did the same with this pregnancy. People think pills are more safe or healthy but most presciption drugs arent much better. Unless your a scientist, how can you trust pills? How do you know theyve even had long term testing? Just my opinion. I am against prescription drugs for personal reasons.

Smoking weed to stop morning sickness is just a pathetic excuse bc you don't want to stop! If its getting you high then its doing the same to your baby regardless to whether or not it can cause birth defects your still putting you baby through something it shouldn't have to go through! Most pregnant women have morning sickness and can't keep there food down so they have safe meds to help with that and most drs will automatically prescribe you something for morning sickness! If you didn't want to stop smoking weed then you shouldn't have gotten pregnant ! Baby comes first now not you!

Some ppl wanna justify themselves for being kids 17 yrs old...just because you became a mother doesn't mean you are grown enough to be a mother or even make grown up decisions someone was talking about blunt wraps hello they are tobacco which causes cancer and asthma in infants quit smoking for nine months for Christ sake ur not gonna die...get meds from the Dr sweety..

Its been said many a times here before as well, how many women are on serious medications from the doctor while pregnant?
Those are far more harmful than pot (in moderation) for sure.

Check out the study. Quite interesting really. People are really quick to judge. Do your research and make up your own mind. I'm 26 weeks, suffer from terrible nausea and vomitting. I still take up to 6 diclectan a day(down from 10, yay!!) I toke a small amount in the evening right before bed, so j can sleep. I sleep an average of 12 hours a week, so j started taking a few puffs at night. Now I sleep almost 20 hours a week!! Not to mention the benefits it has for nausea. People are gonna harp on you. Take it with a grain of salt.

It depends where you live, some places it is legal.

Isn't smoking weed illegal? I'm not judging anyone who does it.. But if its illegal then what would make it ok while pregnant? Zofran nd phengren are wonderful substitutes.

I know a bunch of people do it, but like someone else said, if you wouldn't put it in your childs mouth don't put it in yours. That is how I've gone through my pregnancy, i quit drinking, smoking cigs,  and bud, and i refuse to take medicine unless i absolutely have to. Everyone is different, but almost everyone goes through morning sickness and make it through without weed. Pregnancy ***** hun and the sickness is just the beginning. Zofran helps but not much. I personally won't do anything that could chance my baby being taken away or harmed. There are enough things that can Go wrong in pregnancy, if i was the one that caused it i could never forgive myself! So i understand that puking all the time isn't fun but you made your choice to keep your baby, if your kid is one that comes out affected or mentally handicap due to the weed, you are the one that will have to live with the consequenses every day, not us. The weed itself my not have been proven to have any affect on unborn babies, but smoke has. It cuts off oxygen to the placenta. Good luck hun and i hope your sickness gets better soon :)

I think its a personal choice. I smoked pot my second pregnancy because of morning sickness but mainly because it was an every day thing with me and it was hard yo quit. Eventually i quit around thethe last fee months cause the bigger he got and the more I felt him move I just felt I should quit till after. In my case it didn't do any harm. I don't see it as a bad thing if you use it to help you but that's my personal openion. And they most likely test you and baby for drugs and thc if you have a history of using or there's something wrong with the baby. I no longer smoke but I'm not against it. Just saying.

I smoked marijuana for the past 10years.....AS SOON as I found out I was pregnant, I stopped, cold turkey (of course it was more of a social thing), but there is NOTHING in this world that would make me want to "risk" my kids health or me being able to keep my child. I also cut back significantly on cigarettes, to one a day...if that. I have no desire when I think of my baby. I dealt with the horrible morning sickness and found ways to handle it without drugs(legal or illegal). Sour candy and lemons worked wonders. Not to mention I want to breast feed my boy as well, so all the smoking had to go. I hope you find an alternate and soon.

Lalasmommy I would totally recommend you stop smoking blunts if you plan on continuing smoking. There are many chemicals in blunt wraps and also tobacco resin. You should switch to joints" raw' brand. They are all natural paper, and if your careful about where or how you get your weed that should all be natural too. But anyways I will be 15 weeks tomorrow I have smoked about 6 times since I found out I was pregnant. Before getting pregnant I was a regular pot smoker. But with all the talk of losing my baby over a simple decision I could of easily made quitting while pregnant is my only option. So I have quit, and yes I miss it very much, but being the mother my child deserves is more important, and your baby doesn't get to choose the body it wants to be put in. I am not against mothers who smoke while pregnant its just not for me anymore. Best of luck ladies, just remember your only pregnant for a short period of time, leaving plenty of time to toke up after =]

Personally smoking weed isn't worth the possible risks. You will get different opinions on whether or not it actually effects the baby. I think that if there is even a chance that it would do harm why do it? I know some babies come out fine and some don't.  But here's what I've found on it and I hope it makes you take the time to at least educate yourself on the possible effects that you could be inflicting on the baby:
Smoking Marijuana during pregnancy has been linked to low birth weights in babies and withdrawal-like symptoms including excessive crying, tremors, hyperemesis (severe and chronic vomiting). Some studies, though not all, show that women who use marijuana even as infrequently as once a month throughout pregnancy are more likely to gain inadequate weight, to have dangerously rapid labor, prolonged or arrested labor, or a cesarean section. They are also more likely to have a baby that needs resuscitation after delivery. Smoking marijuana has also even linked to developmental delays and some learning disabilities later in life.

So maybe you could talk to your doctor and find another way to handle the morning sickness.
Either way I hope you have a good pregnant and safe delivery. Good luck:)

I was sick as a dog the first 3 months couldn't even really get out of bed it was so bad, on top of that had bad acid reflux and heartburn & zofran became my best friend. Wish I would have known about it a little sooner but it really works you should deff bring it up to your doctor.
