Anyone have tips on how to quit smoking cigarettes? I know they are awful for your baby and I want to stop before I get too far along

I'll admitt it was difficult for me to quit the first week or two after finding out that I was pregnant.  But one day I woke and my pack was empty and I just decided that I wouldn't buy another.  I haven't had a cig since and it's been 3 months.  I was 2 months preggo when I found out.  Honestly now that I don't smoke I breath better I feel better and I find cigarettes less appealing.  My little boy is healthy and growing and I feel like I'm doing whats right by him.  You may want to speak with your ob about quitting.  He or she may be able to help. I promise quitting will make you feel a lot better.  Good luck dear.

I quit as soon as I found out I was expecting. I feel like quitting cold turkey is the best way to go. It's what's best for you and the baby. It takes discipline, but it's worth it. Good luck to you!

Everyone had diff techniques that worked for them. For me i brought heaps of chewing gum, candy, and e-cigerete. I went cold turkey. And when i got desperate i puffed on a vapour smoke.i quit @ 9w im now 37w. I had really good support! I keep having doubts i couldnt stop my partner kept me positive  that i can do it. I put on heaps of weight from quiting and being pregnant. So i cant wait to go to the gym.

I had a way hard time too. I just gave myself a date and said this day will be my last day smoking. Then I rationed the rest of my cigarettes by like 3-2-2-2-1-1 (a day) then i just stopped. I still struggle with it everyday and it's been over three months since it quit. Good luck mama! You can do it!

Thanks for the advice. Like I said I know its horrible but I used to smoke a pack a day. And since I found out only 3 days ago that I'm pregnant, I've cut back to only 5 a day. No need for negativity I just knew I'm not the only one who has tried to quit.

For me I just stopped automatically, I kind of got turned off them by the smell and they have me headaches, but just think about your baby most of all and your baby's health and it will make you stop, and think of the smell rubbing off new baby clothes. Good luck

I quit cold turkey when I found out at five weeks..

Honestly its your mindset - I couldn't smoke knowing I was damaging my unborn.  The guilt made me quit ...

cold water and steer clear of ciggeretts and ppl smoking. .
It is tough but just look at your scan pic each time you crave- x

Dont let rude comments get you down. It took me a few months to quit. I just slowly cut back and was able to convince my body i was going to get sick if i smoked. Also mint gum helps too.

I'm going thru the same thing its so hard to quit I cut down a lot I'm 26 weeks pregnant..I eat sunflower seeds and don't buy a pack if you have a pack around the house its easier to smoke... I just take a couple drags when my friends or boy friend is around!!! Good luck to you I hope you can quit!!!

Hypnotherapy was amazing.  Be careful quitting cold turkey.  Withdrawal is not pleasant.  I quit a yr before conception to clean my lungs out.

Ice, hard candies, gum if you needto satisfy your oral fixation
Nothing is going to be the same, you just have to make the decision based on morals. Its hard i know, but if you cant quit smoking while your child is in your stomach does that mean youll blow smoke into their face when theyre born? Probably not, but thats what your doing. I meditated and had to do a lot of self dicipline, ive honestly never felt better
