Hello,
I am looking for some insight or related situations... I am a 28 and have been through two IVF cycles with both negative outcomes. I am now 11 days late and have symptoms of pregnancy and had a positive HPT. I have only missed my period when I was pregnant with my now 8 year old son. My period is like clock work. So, I went in to have blood work done and it came back negative. How can this be? I am very confused. Still no period in sight... anyone have any info?

i am going back to the doc so we will see what happens... i really am hoping for a pregnancy!

i am going back for blood work and ultrasound on friday. Guess we will find out one way or another. thanks for the info.

It depends on the HCG test- if it gives you the actual number then it's most accurate. But if it just says, "Pregnant or not pregnant" it could be as accurate as a urine test. Getting a second test definitely wouldn't hurt.

Is your doc sending you for another blood test?  Cuz the hormone may not have showed up in your blood yet.  I was in the exact situation.... my blood test came out negative but i went for blood work again a week later and the doc said i was 4 or 5 weeks pregnant.
In my opinion (and situation), the HPT is very accurrate, but i could be wrong.

There two reasons that come to mind- you either have a cyst that is producing HCG or you experienced a chemical pregnancy. You could ask your doctor for a vaginal ultrasound to look for cysts and see if that is the reason you got a positive test.
