strong pains

I am 37 weeks pregnant, I have been to the hospital 3 times in the past month with strong stomach pains that lasts from 1-3 hours long! They are not contractions, its a constant pain, my back HURTS at the same time. The e.r. does not see anything wrong and they keep sending me home. Has anyone else experienced this? What could it be?

Oh. And I've been to the hospital for this too. Drs don't know much about it yet. But chiropractors do. Look up slipped rib syndrome and see if ur symptoms match those that are described. The pain is excruciating(sp). It can't even be seen on an x ray. So the Dr won't find it by simply looking at u or feeling u.

Sometimes ribs come out of place. It hurts in ur back and in the front of ur rib carriage. And can even cause nerve pain which feels similar to real contractions. Not braxton hicks. Sometimes the ribs don't go back in place. Especially if u are double jointed like me. The ligaments are to stretchy to hold them in place. Slipped ribs are common in pregnancy but overlooked cause the symptoms match those of indigestion, gallbladder problems and pulled muscles. They have even been known to mimic a heart attack. I've had this for years. Even a good cold can cause so much coughing it pops out ribs. Well so does pregnancy. That's always a possible cause of stomach pain in front especially when it hurts in ur back to. I'm nervous about how my ribs will hold up this time around. I have 5 out already.

Well finally saw my O.B., he feels like It may be my gall bladder also. But he says i have to  WAIT until I give birth to have it checked. I hope the pains don't come back before then.

That's exactly what happened to me! They told me to put a heating pad on it and relax! It's impossible to relax when you are hurting that bad! They acted like I was a first time mom and didn't know what braxton hicks were! This is my third pregnancy, I know the difference! I hope it don't happen again! I'm Ready for this baby to get here already! ;)

I didn't think of that. I had stomach pains about 2 years ago and was told by the E.R. doc. that my gall bladder was no good, but when I saw a specialist, he told me it was fine! So that is a possibility, I'll have to mention it to my ob- gyn.  Thanx

Im 35wks and had same thing i was in hospital 3 times in one week in agony. it was just a consistent pain and they too said nothing is wrong, to be honest i don't think they know what it was, they just told me to use a heat pack and sent me home. I felt stupid going to hospital cause i was in so much pain and they just check u, put monitors on bub then sent me home with no answers. i know it wasn't braxton hicks or contractions but whatever it was it was probably the worst pain I've ever had cause it was continuously there for hours at a time with no relief. my was really bad for a week and now its all stopped. Hope yours goes away soon :)

Could it be your gallbladder I had severe stomach pain halfway through my pregnancy and kept going to the er and they kept saying everything checked out fine but when I finally convinced my ob that it wasn't stretching ligaments the did a u/s on my gallbladder and discovered it needs to be removed when my LO is born.
