hey, i hardly ever ate lunchmeat before my pregnancy, but now that i am pregnant, i am craving subway like crazy!!!! i have been only eatting veggie delights because i was told not to eat lunch meat while pregnant. however, that is not filling my craving! since they are pretty reputable, do you think it's okay to eat their lunchmeat? i am just drooling thinking about their turkey and ham subs!
I have never been told not to eat luch meat before. I have two beautiful boys and they are just fine...I ate luch meat every once and a while when I was pregnant. I have heard to watch the amount of fish you ate and to stay away from certain types, but never heard of the lunch meat....maybe im missing something, lol:) Where did you hear that?
I lived on Subway w/ this last pregnancy. I had never heard of that about the meat until recently. I think someone else asked that question on here too. My baby was just fine. I love me a good sandwich!!!
Basically, the concern is the increased amount of a bacteria called Listeria which is found in lunch meats. It's going to be like cigerette smoking and drinking, where some people say they did it while pregnant and had a perfectly healthy baby.. and then you have obvious reports that doing such things can cause problems in your baby. For this, I think it's completely up to you and your comfort level. Me, I love hot dogs, and I refuse to give them up (I just cook the hell out of them)!
