vicodin at 6wks pregnant!!!

Ok so yesterday i had a little accident I dislocated my shoulder.....very very painful l:(  anyways they drugged me up pretty good at the er to put me to sleep so they could fix it and then prescribed me vicodin for the pain....well i em in quite a bit of pain but im scared that all the medicine i received at the er and vicodin can affect my baby i have yet to take one pill.....the doc refused to check the baby because im only 6wks he said there isnt much to check at this point. I just dont know what to think im worried about my baby :(

yes i called my ob and the nurse said it wont harm the baby but im just not comfortable taking it so i have just been taking Tylenol and i think that's what i em going to continue doing....thanks for the advice :)

I don't really know much about it but I can't imagine them giving something that will harm the baby unless the positive affect outweighs the negative but if you don't want to Take it then don't just deal with the pain wait regular pain killers

"One important thing to remember is that Vicodin is a Category C drug for pregnant women.  According to the FDA, this means "Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks."  In other words, it hasn't been proven harmful, but it hasn't been proven safe, either"

I would contact your OB and see what they say. I know that Darvecet is ok to take because I took it for migraines at the beginning of one of my pregnancies. Hope this helps, if not they can give you tylenol with codine.
