what was your signs of labour?

im just wondering, besides the obvious contractions and water breaking and stuff, did you have any other symptoms that labour was near, by days or hours... i read some ppl got a strange head acke the day they went into labour,some say they had a flu a few days before.. im trying to find other lil things as i realy want to be ready. my labour just lasts an hour and my doc says that this baby will just come right out with bearly any labour,so he wants me to go in if i feel anything at all,, im afraid i wont make it to the hospital with this one. i just want to tune in and look for lil signs.  i get a show and water breaks as im delivering, so realy need those other lil things that you dont read about.. thanks for replies, any thing at all will be helpful

I can't really help here because with each of my boys my water broke too. With both of my boys I dilated to 3.5 and had to have shots to stop my labor that only lasted a few days. Both times I was told not to come back unless my water broke and sure enough it did both times =)

The day before I delivered our son, my bowels were on overdrive! Sorry for the TMI but I was in the bathroom over and over and over again. It felt like my body was purging itself. I also was so calm about everything, very zen like mood. The next day I was in labor.

thanks for the replies,, it is helpful to know what it was for diffrent ppl. i can only remember 1 or 2 things as i was realy sick at the end of my last 2 pregnancys so i wasnt looking for signs, .. but when i get to the hospital,usualy with in an hour or 2 the most, im already 10 cms. it just comes all at once,so no time for pain relief or anything, but mostly i dont want to give birth in the car. the doc aslo thinks i want make my due date so i realy want to be prepared lol

Every Pregnancy and labor is different, so even if some people tell you one thing, doesnt mean it will happen for you..i know  Ive never actually gone into labor, this is my first pregnancy and Im just sitting here patiently waiting to go into labor (im almost 38 weeks). But you def cant use your mucous plug to determine labor.  Its way different for everyone. I started losing mine almost 3 weeks ago, and still nothing, with one sister it took a month ad my other sister it took 2 weeks, but my friend lost hers and went into labor a couple hours later.  so everyone is different.. And I was 1cm dialated a week and half ago.  Havnt been checked since then so I dont know.  But I hope you make it to the hospital, and you also cant go by diareah, ive had that for a couple weeks now.  The only thing i swear by with everyone I know is the cleaning like crazy.. wish i wonder if it will ever happen for me, cause ive been so lazy the last 9 and half months lol... How far along are you?

I'm in the same boat as you....labor with my daughter was short. I had EARLY labor for 26hrs but my active was only 2 and she was my first baby....so the doc thinks I can expect this baby to come pretty fast.

I know with my daughter I felt very clear-headed and focused...and all of my pregnancy symptoms disappeared at once. No nausea, no dizziness...my breasts were still tender but it was like all of a sudden arriving at your destination after a long trip...I just knew it was time. They didn't have to tell me I was dilating because I could feel it too..I went from 3cm during early labor down to 1, they broke my water and in less than an hour I was at 10cm and I could feel pains as I dilated.

Humm...and I know that the day before I cleaned the whole house from floor to ceiling, which I always thought was a myth...and one of my friends joked that I was going to go into labor because I was going through that phase. I also went shopping the day early labor started because I figured heck it's my due date this is the one day I can be sure I won't go into labor. boy was I wrong, lol, but I couldn't sit still at home and that was the big sign for me...restlessness that got worse and worse, and then RIGHT before it happened, calm and focus.

hope this helps...I'm going to be asking the same thing in a few months I'm sure, lol, because I do NOT want to have this baby on the way to the hospital. I think we've decided to call an ambulance so if I give birth on the way at least there will be medical professionals and my daughter won't be in the car screaming in terror.

I've heard that diareah is another sign of labor coming on. I've read it on a few posts here that some will start having diareah and then labour starts a couple days after. Also, the signs of losing your mucus plug, which some call it "the bloody show". Thats another tell tell sign labour is coming soon.
