when do you get your first scan !!!

Hi guys i am just wondering if there is anyone here from england that knows when you go for your first scan, i have seen alot of posts on here about ladies going for ultrasounds at 6 weeks and things.  The reason i ask is that i found out recently that i am preggo i am only 4 weeks and 5 days and i know its far to soon for a scan but i has m/c in jan 08 at 5 weeks and when i called the doc's to tell him i am preggo he said that he didnt need to see me and that he would just book an appt with the midwife which is on the 21 jan i will be 7 weeks then and i am just wondering if i can request a scan earlier than 12 weeks as i would just like to make sure that every thing is ok, or at least get some bloods done to see what my hcg levels are like (i thought the doctor would do this whe i called to tell him) !!

Normally you have your first scan at 12 weeks but as you have m/c in the past they may do one earlier or not, speak to your midwife when you see her and tell her you would feel better if you could have sooner. Good luck.

I am not in England either and it DRIVES ME CRAZY WHEN docs insist on doing scans before about 10 weeks. It seems that most women are in a panic with early scans because the sac and other important things were not seen correctly as it is simply too early. I had a scan at 10 weeks to check for viability ONLY because I have had 2 previous miscarriages..otherwise they will sometimes do one at about 12 weeks for dating and then 20 weeks and lastly at about 34 weeks.

Im not from England, But I do agree that they should see u as soon as you find out.  Like here they wont see you until your 10 weeks... But I'd try maybe a different doctor if you can. Tell them your worried, and what happend last time.  Cause you should be considered high risk
