when does your body start producing hcg?

Just wondering how long it takes your body to start producing hcg and when it actually starts to produce it.

I read on webmd it can actually take up to 6 days after implantation for it to show for a blood test. So I can imagine it would take a bit longer for a hpt.

yes, once the egg implants (5-10 days after conception) your body will start to produce the hormone.  Some where between 2(very very early) to 5 days after implantation you will be able to test and get a positive.  Now, just from experience here.  I got the very beginning on implantation bleeding on Monday 10/6 around 1pm.  By 3:30 pm I was crying in the car listening to music.  So you may not be able to test that early but it can mess with your emotions very very early.
