We already have Hunter in the convertible car seat! He is too big for the infant carseat.

my son was only 8 months old when i bought a new carseat, but he weighed 22 lbs. and was 24in. long, and was way to big for the infant car seat.....i just recently got him a booster seat because he had out grown is bigger carseat...38lbs. and 38in.long at 2 1/2 years old......so it really depends on there size!!

I waited until my son turned 1 year old, since he didn't get too big for it sooner and it's the law anyway :)

I had a really big infant car seat and my daughter could be in it until she was 25lbs or 30in.  It was a pain when I first got it because it's a little heavier then most, but she stayed in it until she was 14 months old and 22lbs so she went from it to a front facing seat.

I just bought Jeremiah a new seat and he is 10 months...long overdue as he is 28 pounds. The seat I got is an evenflo triumph which can be rear facing and later be front facing. I have to say I love this seat so much and so does he. =)

I had Julian switched from his infant carrier at about 5 months, but he reached the length requirement. He is in a rear facing convertable seat. I agree that I would not and am not  planning on switching him to foward facing until he is 18 months unless the doctor  says otherwise.

My son went into a convertible car seat at 7 months I believe. However, that was 2 1/2 years ago. With the convertible car seat he could only sit forward though because the car seat said only to be rear facing if the are 20lbs or less and 26 inches or less. I don't know what most of them say these days but they say on the car seat or in the manual. But it sounds like it is time for your daughter to be "upgrading"!

I know that a lot of infant carriers now go up to 35lbs. Switching to a convertible car seat is ok at anytime, however with that being said you cannot legally have her facing forwards until she is at least ONE year and 20 lbs. Its always best to keep them backwards facing as long as possible though because in the case of a car crashed her as forward facing them would be tossed forward which could case damage to their neck and spine, rear facing causes them to go backwards and into the safety of the seat thus limiting the damage. Aspen at almost 14 months still can't sit facing forward but even still I don't think I'll move her forward facing until she is at least 18 months.

Most car seats say in the info that comes with it.  Ours is 22 lbs or 27 inches (I think).  My son is about 7 1/2 months and he needs to make the switch.  His little feet are coming out the bottom of the car seat and the staps are on the highest one.

Most babies need to switch by around 4-5 months because they get too tall. I just saw some really cute girly carseats at Walmart and Target! My youngest daughter has one from Target that has big beautiful flowers on it.

20 pounds is the limit for an infant seat so it is time to switch her to a convertible but make sure she is still rear facing until she is at LEAST a year old.

My car seat says that it is good for up to 22lbs/20inches...Sounds like you are right around that point where she would be ready for a new one...
