why can't it be my choice?

I am 13w & 3d pregnant and i would really like to get the whole naming process out of the way. i am having alot of problems with the whole name thing. i LOVE the name Presley for a girl... but nobody else likes it. i think it is a very BEAUTIFUL name and it goes along with my major obsession with Elvis Presley. i would love to name the boy Aaiden Cash ((yet another obsession- Johnny Cash)) nobody likes that either. my mother thinks she is going to be naming my child. no offense to her, but this Is my child. not hers. i have tried every way to satisfy her in trying to combine the names she wants and the names i want...
i liked the name Presley Marie for a girl, but the baby's father has the last name Shea. and her initials would be P.M.S. (not gonna happen)

do i keep trying to satisfy my mother's wants, or do i just do my own thing?
and any advice on the names?

Alright, so i think i'm going with Presley Marie for a grl and Presley Cash for a boy... sound good?
i will use my last name and his last name. like being hyphenated or something... but my name will be first to avoin PMS... so it'd be PMM-S... is that still bad?

I like Presley Marie - I can't help but think of Quinn as a boy's name because friends of ours named their son Quinn (and that's the only Quinn I know).

Oh, and to answer the question in the title of you post....it IS your choice!!!!

This is precisely why we aren't sharing our names with family or friends - we don't want to listen to others' opinions....especially negative if they happen to not like the names we've picked.  I haven't even posted them on here.

I love Presley, so original and would work really well for a buy or girl. Cash Presley maybe? I really like the name Cash.I agree with the others about not taking the father's name. Do what you want its your baby afterall

You're the parent and you're the one signing the birth certificate. Do you really want to look back 20 years from now and regret not naming your OWN baby? ;-) Name them what you want.

I like the names you have picked out. I think it is very nice to be conciterate of your mother, but i think it should be up to you and  the father to agree upon the names. Good luck!

That is seriously one of the hardest things I think. I actually like Presley Marie, its tough and pretty. And I'm a big fan of boys names for girls. I like Aiden Cash too, both names are original without being weird. Cuz there are some weird names out there right now. Lol and I think ultimately the choice is yours. Even if your mom is going to be helping raise the baby, its still your baby. And besides, once the baby gets here, it won't matter if the name isn't your moms favorite. She'll love that baby no matter what. I'm sure eventually she'll forget that you didn't pick the name she wanted. She'll be so proud and happy to watch her grandchild grow. As long as you like the names, that's all that is important. A good idea, write your child a note. Like they're ten years old and you had to run to the grocery store before they got home from school. Would her name always be Presley? Would you shorten it eventually to something? Pres? Lee? Do the same with the boys name. If it doesn't look right or sound right on paper then it probably won't work in practice. Try yelling it too, like they shaved the cat or something. Try the names out in all different situations.
