I am in Australia and because my first was due 25th of December I was told I had until the 26th then I was being induced, mostly because they were worried about what docs and specialists were available that time of the year. Thankfully he decided he wanted out on the 21st. I am only in the early stages of this pregnancy so have no idea which way this one will go. I am due around the 18th of dec though so will have to wait and see.

Ive been having contractions that are 10 mins apart but they arent doing anything except annoying me. Ive been at 2cm for almost 2wks now. I had a growth scan - bubs is measuring at 7lbs and 11oz and that Im right on at 40wks 6days. Hes fully engaged and not going anywhere so my Dr has concerns that my body cant naturally go into labor for whatever reasons. So tuesday Im scheduled for induction.

I wasn't induced with my daughter. But my son on the other hand I was.  And that was due to how fast my labors are. I live a half hour away from hospital in middle of no where don't want baby arriving in the car :) with my son I dilated from 2 to 10 and pushing within 15 mins

I'm from the States.  I watched it after having a preterm baby and then a c-section. So I was on guard about what they would say.  Which they make a point to say that hospitals are a wonderful thing for cases like mine, but for healthy women they may be hurting more then helping.  I'm pregnant with my third and because of my past I am having another c'-section,  I wish I could vbac but for myself and the baby's I know it's what I have to do.

You should watch the business of being born. Its a documentry by Ricki Lake, very eye opening. Doctors here induce way early.

I took a $200 aspirin, they should let you know things like that cost before. I would of just sucked up the headache.

Ugh that just pinches my undercarriage! I had a surgery to repair my uterus a couple years ago and i got a bill from the OB, from the hospital for the use of the room and equipment, from the anesthesiologist for putting me under, from the supply room from the hospital, and from the drs clinic for having to rearrange his schedule since my surgery was an emergency and he was the "best" OB/GYN in northwest Arkansas. I was like f*ck me, why dont u just take my kidney with you too!!!

And thanks ash. There is actually a book that a doctor wrote, he was 20/20, i forgot his name. That told all the hospital secrets. Like doctors performing surgery on people that were going to die anyway just for a check and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I'm being induced because labor isn't starting on its own, well I've been having contractions all last night and tonight so something is starting. But if I don't go into full blown labor by the 13th, I'll be induced. Not my first choice, unfortunately I have no say because I will be 42+1 on the 13th.

I'm hoping for a natural birth. I really don't to be induced so I hope I start labor on my own! In my state you can go up to 42 weeks before they induce you and my midwife agrees so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Im not saying women want to be induced (though some do), im saying why doctors offer it so freely.

thats mad and a bit wrong dont you think?  id rather wait and have my baby natural like I did on my 1st and hoping on my little girl now. I had the needle in the leg as I was tired and they wanted me to rest but that brought my labour on and I delivered my boy with out midwife am hour later. only way I would have a c section is if I had to as im scared of something goig wrong with the epidural. x

^ I like the way you think! Lol I wish I didn't have to do inductions because it was so so so intense but I don't do epidurals. And after my first i am too afraid that the same thing will happen to my others :( but I am terrified of c sections and epidurals. 0.o I take the pain over that any day.

The medicine they give you to induce you makes your contractions stronger. Most women them opt to get an epidural because the pain is so intense. Most women cant respond to their body when they have an epidural because of the numbness and then probably have to have a c section. Doctor gets a nice check from your insurance because operations pay more than natural labor. Thats why doctors push it and most women are so uncomfortable and ready to meet there lil one they fall for the bait. You would like to think your doctor has your best interest, but if you could control you check wouldn't you?

Lol yeah I would never opt for induction on my own because with my second baby I had a "balloon" inserted to slowly start dilation before they gave me to petocin for the induction. Even with all the complications in my first pregnancy, when induced it was SOOO much more painful!

ye I understand why as that would be classed as high risk coz of your 1st little one its just people who just want their babies now I dont understand lol x

They said the only reason I went into labor with my oldest was because my body thought it was an "intruder" and forced her out. If that makes sense?

Well where I was going was that I went into labor naturally with her but by that time she was too malnourished. Some women don't respond like I should've had her earlier than 43 weeks obviously or she wouldn't have almost died from malnutrition. I won't knock it one way or another because I went naturally and almost lost her. My second I was induced at 39 weeks to prevent it from happening again. My body doesn't produce the appropriate amount of hormones to trigger labor.

I'm from Canada and my doctor will let me go as far as 42 weeks before inducing which is awesome because I want to start labour naturally even if I need to have a c-section that's okay. I am excited for her to be here and I want her here now but I am willing to let her do her thing until she is ready.
