How did you determine that you were 8 weeks?  It is very possible for someone to think that they are further along than they really are.  With my first son, I ovulated later than the doctor thought so when I went for my first ultrasound they couldn't find a heartbeat and my numbers were low.  I went back a week later and there was a heartbeat.  My son was perfectly fine.  When are you supposed to go back to the doctor?  When I had my miscarriage we saw a heartbeat first then saw nothing the next time.  Do your best to relax (like that's possible).  Take care of yourself.

I am so sorry!! But if there is no heart beat, I really don't think there can be much hope. Pregnancies end for so many reasons, most are due to things we have absolutely no control over. I know that doesn't make the pain of a loss any easier.

Hi. I was 10 weeks pregnant when I went to the doctor and they couldn't find the heartbeat. I wasn't bleeding, spotting, cramping or anything. I had to have a D & C. If there isn't a heartbeat detected on the ultrasound then there probably isn't one. They can see a heartbeat as early as 6 weeks. I now have a one month old daughter and I saw her heartbeat at 8 weeks. Best of luck to you.
