working while pregnant.

So first off im 26w3d. And i started my new job at a grocery store being a cashier. I work eight hours 5 or 6 days a week. My problem is the standing for 8 hours its is terrible. And i usually work till about 10 at night. My question is have any of you ladies had to quit because work was too hard on you while pregnant. Im also tired of hearing people say "oh well, i worked my entire pregnancy.." good for you?f Im soo tired of being tired and hurt all the time from work. Anyone have advice or have quit for these reasons? Also i have worked harder and longer jobs than this before getting pregnant.

I too am a cashier. Get a doctors note for a stool and they have to give one to you, you can also have the doc say they need to allow you discreet snacks to eat at the register to keep you blood sugar at the right level. My employers don't like that I have to have stool but they deal with it. Out of respect for them I dint sit the whole time but only when I need it and I think they are seeing that more now and appreciating it. Get a doc's note. Good luck sweetie.

I worked up until i had my baby and 2 jobs . My opinion if u r to tired and its wearing u out quit lap up the relaxation while u can because i dont care what anyone says i wish i had of cause motherhood is one of the hardest jobs in the world and i think u should rest while u can i had my baby 4 weeks early because i was to hard on my body and it just wore me out and caused problems through my pregnancy so my advice if u feel the need to quit and rest you should do it dont worry what other people think of u

Nobody can judge because It really depends on who you are. I stayed really active throughout and 26 weeks I was still lucky enough to have no horrible pains and I was still able to keep up with everything even though I would just about fall asleep at work. At about 36 weeks I was not a happy camper and I'm off work now. You could just be one of the unlucky ones!

I used to manage / bartend at hooters and my husband had me quit because being on my feet all the time and its flu season so I was more prone to getting sick working around public and the stress of dealing with all the bs from girls... I could have stuck it out but id rather my little man grow in a more peaceful environment

Is your iron low? Do you throw up a lot?? Those were my 2 problems at the beginning I didn't start working until I was 5 months. My doctor gave me zofran for nausea and  iron tablets that helped with the energy and now I'm good to go.

I have to quit my job soon because I work outside and its a lot worse to deal with while pregnant. I'm 26+4 and I used to work 30 hours a week now I work 3 at most because I get sick every time I work. Try working shorter shifts it can help a lot.

I just quit my job due to me just being tired all the time and being Moody because of the smell of people. I'll be looking for a job that I may sit down. Ask if they may put you in a different position maybe one that you may be walking.

I agree that you should listen to your body.I'm 31 weeks and I am so ready to leave work. I work fast food and it is so exhausting! Everyone is different if its too much for you I think you should take your leave. Income tax is coming soon so I think you should take your leave and prepare for your baby! I'm taking mines in a few weeks.

Im in the same thing. But they make me work 5hrs 4days a week on registers.i get 1x15min break.nd 2x5min sit downs just to rest my legs.
Before that i worked 40hrs a week nightshift restocking the supermarket. I know what hard work is. And pregnancy just takes it out of you. You need to take it easier.

Keep safe, take care

Maybe you should ask about switching to part time. Either less days or less hrs in a day. Talk to ur dr, have him write you a note for your employer stating you can only stand for x amount of time. If they do not comply or fire you, you can go after them for wrongful termination. No matter what you do, good luck and hopefully you start feeling better :)

I've never worked. But I did drop out of school because I was pregnant I was just way too tired to keep up. I think if it's too much for you, it's too much for you. Who cares what other people do. My mom work 12 hour days 5 days a week during her pregnancy and she was 37 but she was able to do it. I'm 20 and I dropped out of school cuz I was so exhausted. Every pregnancy, every person is different lol

They wont let me sit or have a stool. And i get in trouble if i like squat or bend over. I get dizzy, tight chest and racing heart when standing too long. And ive never been a person to complain but oh my lord. Its rough on me for some reason. It gets me really depressed actually cause i think im being a little baby about it. But im really not. But im only doing this for extra money. Because i will be a stsy at home mommy for at least a year.

I am going to have to stop by the time I get to 32 weeks if not earlier. I'm carrying twins and would probably work until the birth if I had a single baby. It is only because i need to financially, otherwise i would probably quit now, Im extremely uncomfortable at 27 weeks.
working as a cashier is one of the worst jobs for someone pregnant because of having to stand in one position for too long. One thing that might help is putting one foot on a stool, I read it online somewhere that it will help pelvic pain and getting lightheaded.
The key is to listen to your body, you will know when its time to stop.

This really depends on how healthy you are,  and how healthy the pregnancy is.

I'm one of those you are tired of hearing say "I worked my entire pregnancy".  I actually worked all day,  went to an afterwork event that lasted til 10 p.m.,  and went into the hospital at 7 am the next morning dilated 5 cm.

Used to be women would work in the fields all day and take the afternoon off to deliver and then be back out there the next day.

BUT.  There are also women who have horrible high blood pressure,  pre-eclampsia,  placenta previa,  etc.,  who are on bedrest.

This isn't a character issue is what I'm saying.  It's a circumstance issue.

You have to do what you can,  and take it easy if you have to,  and it's not about personal character.  It's about health.

I'm lucky I don't have a job that requires me standing all day, I wouldn't be able to cope either! If I don't get to sit down when I need to I feel sick. Could they maybe give you a stool or something to sit on? Are they understanding of your situation?
