Hypothyroidism in pregnancy. Please advice

My wife is 10 weeks pregnant and in recent blood test we found that she has high level of TSH between 20-25 and low T4 which doctor said it is Hypothyroidism. I am worried after reading about its effects on fetus and mother. Is it right time to treat the hypothyroidism so that it don't have any negative effect on fetus like his brain development or are we late for this diagnosis and treatment. There is no medical history of her or her family about thyroid abnormalities. Her first day of last menstrual cycle was 22nd Sep 2015.
Waiting for reply. Please advice.

I have hypothyroid as well.this is my 3rd pregnancy and was diagnosed during my first one. They have adjusted my meds and kept an eye on it each time.as long as she takes meds as prescribed and the Dr will check on it as needed all will be fine!! Both of my boys were health (8.2 lbs and 7.13 lbs) with no problems other than jaundice. We r expecting another boy this time:) best of luck

Hi. I am also hypothyroid and pregnant however I have been diagnosed long before pregnancy. Has your wife been started on thyroxine straight away? Google the NICE clinical guidelines for hypothyroidism and it will explain the care you should be getting and the levels they should be aiming for. It's very important for her to start thyroxine and she should get and urgent referral to an endocrinologist
