Almond milk ok for baby?

I intend on solely breastfeeding my newborn and never giving him cows milk but I was wondering have any moms given their baby almond milk once they're around 7-8 months? Or at any point?

That should be fine and healthy. I give my children milk around that age and never had a problem. Almond milk is a healthy substitute to real cows milk. I don't see where you would have a problem. It's a great idea that you are planning ahead to feed your child a healthy diet.

I have five and pregnant with number six and have never waited to introduce milk. Once they were taking in solid foods I introduced milk and kept breastfeeding till they winged themselves from breast milk. Most of my children winged themselves around eight months.

You Shouldn't do any type of milk other then breast milk or formula before the age of one. The reason is the osmolarity of different types of milk isn't the same as breast milk (or formula) and introducing these other milks to soon can cause kidney damage. I work as a nutritionist and the registered dietician I work with and I were talking about this and that is what she told me. Also doctors only need 1 general nutrition class, this is why I hate when doctors give nutrition advice.

I have a friend who gives her twin boys almond milk but she didn't start until they were over a year. I give my some coconut milk every now and then but it can cause diahrea if you give them too much. He has a dairy allergy so I'm glad there are other options. He likes almond milk too, I'm just still breastfeeding him and I wont give it to him to drink until he weens. I will only give him coconut and almond though because soy milk has estrogen in it so no soy in our house.

Thank you for posting this question. I thought about the same thing. Maybe not because of the same reasons. Its just that asthma runs in my family and I know dairy products cause congestion which makes it hard to breath. I was given rice milk as a baby because I have asthma but now its not severe. I really hope he doesn't end up with asthma but I'll have to see after he's born.

After some further research I've found that many mothers give their baby almond milk. I'll just have to be aware of his allergies & buy the unsweetened version to avoid extra sugars.

I personally wouldn't because of the jut allergies.  My niece isn't allergic to any nuts but almonds. So in my family we have to be extra careful

Ok. I did ask and was told it would be fine but I asked to get answers from mothers who have done it.

I have never hear of using almond milk. That is a question for your pediatrician.  I do know that you can use goat milk instead of cow milk.
