Big Baby!!

I'm 33 weeks 5 days pregnant with my first child which is a boy. Had a doctors appointment today and doctor said baby is and I are doing great!! And that my baby is very healthy. She wants to induce me at 37 weeks because is growing too fast and already weights 6 pounds. Have any of you ever been induce because of big baby? or Is anyone pregnant now with a big baby ??

Weight gain can have nothing to do with it. With my third pregnancy I gained 4lbs and they claimed she was going to be giant.... Furthest thing from the truth!

How much did you gain if you don't mind.I'm currently 34 weeks&I gained 42 pounds&next week I have to go do a growth scan to see how big the baby is.I'm all belly&have a scheduled Cesarean June 25. I still can't get full&I'm always hungry...lol

I would wait and let nature take it's course. My doc was worried that my son was going to be big. The scan was estimating 9 lbs at 34 weeks. My son was born a week late and only came in at 8 lbs 6 oz! Baby and body know when it's time.

...oh yeah, forgot to add: they sent me to a children's hospital to see a pediatric/NICU specialist and he said that they can do an amnio to see if the fluid has surfactant (which would indicate that the baby's lungs are fully developed.

Maybe you can ask for that?

I have gestational diabedes and my doctor is worried that my baby is large, too. I am having another growth scan on Friday. But at 33 weeks they said he was 5 pounds already (my OB said he should be between 3.5 & 4.5). My doctor is planning on inducing me a week or so early (dependent on Fridays scan). Supposedly 37 weeks is not that early...if you went into labor on your own they wouldn't do anything to stop it. How certain are you of your due date? Maybe its not that bad...

They told me my daughter would be at least 9 1/2 pounds because she was 7 lbs by week 34, she was born at 6lbs 12 oz.  They couldn't have been more wrong. I've personally, never heard an accurate weight prediction from an us. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I've personally meet someone who had. So even if I'm the exception, you can still infer that miscalculations are fairly common. 3 weeks is a long time take awaytime just because baby night be big.

Yeah its your first baby and the scans are just estimations. My theory is to let it happen naturally. I would only opt for an induction if my baby was at risk..but a potentially "big" baby wouldnt be reason enough to me to interrupt nature and force my baby to be born early. If you arent sure about the induction tell your doctor youd lile to take it one week at a time and see what happens. Unless you are ok with it.

I say don't do it. I measured constantly 3-4 weeks ahead my last pregnancy. They told me she would be at least 9-10lbs. I delivered her at 39 weeks, she weighed 6lbs. Quite the opposite than the "big" baby. The ultrasounds can be off up to 2 pounds.

My sister in law was induced a week early because they thought he was already like 10 lb.  He was only a few ounces more then my daughter who was born a week before (right around 8 1/2 lbs) sje ended up with a c section.
