I think you should slow down the only thing I could think of with a defect is diabetes because in young kids like under 2 and 3 they arent sure but I would take your vitamins and have as much healthy foodsas possible

My Dr recommended taking calcium supplements like Caltrate  D, but I ended up taking a liking to soy milk. I'm very lactose intolerant.

There are a lot of thing to replace milk for your calcium intake... I just found out broccoli is great for calcium and lucky I like it so just Google your options...

Yeah, milk is definitely not necessary for anyone to drink. If you're worried about calcium Google "foods high in calcium" and you'll see many other options. As the ladies said above, soda isn't necessarily going to cause birth defects, but high sugar intake is not nourishing for mom or baby. I looked it up once and 4gms of sugar is about 1 tsp so one can of Mountain Dew, with 46gms of sug has ELEVEN teaspoons of sugar in it. One can! It's crazy!

Yes u second them.  Watch sugar and caffeine., but also avoid aspartame.  As for milk I am milk intolerant and it has never caused problems that I dont drink it.  As long as you have a balanced diet and are getting vitamin d and calcium in it its not a problem :-)

The thing I'd caution about is that if the sodas are sugared, there is said to be a risk of your child getting diabetes later.  And of course, if they are sugar-free, they are loaded with chemicals.  Try sparkling water with fruit juice in it, cutting back the amount of fruit juice as you get used to it.

I know they like to limit the amount of cafine and sugar. Can you drink cafine free? That's what I did with my daughter. This time its only water cuz everything else sounds yucky! Talk to ur Dr about it and see if they have any solutions. I know my friend couldn't get enough pop when she was pregnant!
