Is there such thing as a prepartum depression? I am 38 weeks and lately I just don't feel like my self at all.

I think it happens to a lot of women close to the end of their pregnancy, I have been feeling really down and depressed the last week or so and im 39 weeks today, but before that I hadn't had any problems feeling depressed. I think it's the hormone changes, anxiety and anticipated labor that really starts to sink in around now. I'm so tired of beimg pregnant, huge, and miserable and I know that's not helping my attitude! Talk to your doctor if you need to or a counselor to help get those feelings out - just remember we are almost done! Good luck mamma!

Also called prenatal or antenatal depression. What I found works the best is counseling. Then no one is giving you advice before you can say  how  you feel, saying that's normal and being dismissive, getting feelings hurt because they take how you feel personally .. Its totally real, not everyone gets it or understands it, but you are not the only one nor is it in your head. You are not negative for feeling like that but finding someone objective tobtalk to can be very helpful.

Yes I recommend taking to your doctor about ways to cope or pills.  I got bad post depression.  I wish I got the pills sooner.  Would have enjoyed my little one rather then being stressed the first few months.  I only took pills for a few months then I was good.

Yes, I have had prenatal depression for most of my pregnancy. Talk to your doctor about it. If it gets real bad it can cause early labor.

Yes...not called prepartum depression but it is something that some women do experience. I am finally doing better but had a very rough 2nd trimester. It helped to talk to my doctor about it and I also had a friend who experienced it so she was a great help!
