I got my highlights done at 5 weeks, I too was worried but asked doc who said it was fine and asked hairdresser too who also reassured me it was fine, loads of my friends got theirs done throughout there pregnancy too.... Not sure if there is more of a risk with home colours.... The concern of old was that the chemicals would be absorbed through the scalp and affect your baby but products are much safer now.

I'm having mine done tomorrow.

I had to do a patch test because hormones can cause reaction to dye...

I wouldn't use a box dye but go to a good hairdressers .

I am 18 weeks and I just dyed my hair last night. I did with my other two pregnancies also and didn't have any problems. I found an ammonia free dye that doesn't smell horrible or have those really horrible fumes.

The chemicals don't reach your baby so they are not harmful. Do not use bleach. Dye your hair after your first trimester in a well ventilated area.

I Dyed my hair every 8 weeks throughout my pregnancy and thats the only bad habbit i had. My hairdresser said it was fine & alot of ppl do it. I wld say though if u dye ur hair urself it may not come out with the colour on the box/tub. During pregnancy the pigments in ur hair change with hormones so beware if ur using a home dye especially if its blonde ur trying to keep up. Mines went a yellow with oranges tinges. Was sooo awful

My doctor told me i Can after the second trimester. Just put a fan on you or use a mask to cover your nose and mouth so you can't smell the fumes.  :)
