Fever Blisters

I'm 12 weeks today not sure if I can take anything normally i would take lysine but everything I read says it's not safe for pregnancy  I keep getting these fever blisters. I'm not sure if it's from stress or my immune system low. But either way I want to know if any one else has them and advice for getting rid of them

O have them too just use abreva I haven't had one in years but your hormones can cause them.

As weird as this sounds I have used Bordeaux Buttpaste,  the diaper cream, for mine for years and it's the best thing to get rid of them! You just have to keep it on as much as possible throughout the day and at night. It stops them from even forming for me. I dealt with one at 14 and a half weeks and it was gone in 3 days. If you catch them early it's even better. Best of luck!

The blisters have swollen my lips bad enough and often enough that they're a bit misshapen now and I can do everything normally as long as I'm not having an outbreak. The Acyclovir makes it to where I don't have any for 6 months at a time most of the time and I've never had any side effects from the med so I swear by it with every fiber of my being.

I've had them since I was really small... had a weird uncle that liked to kiss all over my face even when he had outbreaks. I used to only get them twice a year. When I hit puberty they came every month around my monthly. It's only been in the last 2-3 yrs that they've gotten so bad I have to take medication and I can't kiss my hubby or do anything oral with him because even though it's just herpes simplex it has the potential of turning into full blown oral or genital herpes if we don't keep an eye on it. I was lucky to find a man that didn't hold it against me. I'd like to do really mean things to my uncle for all the pain it's caused but as lng as the meds work I just deal with it.

Abreva works well if they aren't too bad. Also, it burns like hell but when abreva stopped working for me I just ripped the blister open and dabbed it with rubbing alcohol. They're so bad now that I have to get a prescription of Acyclovir from my doc or my whole mouth will swell and be covered in blisters. Acyclovir has been tested on women in their first trimester and they did fine but they were never followed up on after so the effects later aren't really known but my doc and I decided it was worth the risk. If I let mine go since nothing else works anymore I end up not being able to speak or eat because of the swelling and pain and that's no good for the baby if I can't eat...
they can also prescribe it in a creme if you just get them on the outside of your mouth so you don't have to take a pill.

I had one around 8 weeks. I used abreva. My regular doctor said it was ok and my OB agreed that it wasn't a problem. I haven't had any since. I will be 20 weeks on Tuesday.
