The prenatal vitamins are not just for the baby they affect you and your health. . The baby will take what it need from you.. if it needs calcium to build it's bones and you are not taking enough it will take it from your bones. Which makes it more likely that you will suffer from osteoporosis soon ot when you get older. Same with iron if you don't take supplements then he will take it from you and your will probably suffer side effects from anemia to other deseases or health issues. Usually we don't get all the nutrients we need from our daily diet and that's y we need to take the prenatal because during pregnancy you lose the most and it will affect you health during you lifetime not just during your pregnancy.

I am horrible at remembering them so I litterally only took probably 30 total with each of now 3 pregnancies...number 3 is due any day and the others are healthy as can be. I would not worry. If you are fine and baby looks fine, then most likely everything is just fine all around.

Folic acid is the main one that can impact the baby if you don't take it. However, by this point I imagine they'd have noticed on the US if it had resulted in an issue like a neural tube defect, which is what they are most worried about. There are some other issues that can happen, like a cleft lip or cleft palate, but they're not as severe. For the most part, the prenatals are for you, like AJsbaby said. If you get a healthy balanced diet, you may not need them so much. It's generally better to take them, but I wouldn't stress too much at this point. If you are feeling unwell, you may consider taking them now, and see if it helps with anything.

Did u just miss a day of taking it or have you not taken it at all in 36 weeks?? If you just missed a day then theres no need to worry Ive missed a day here and there through out this pregnancy. The baby is going to take from you what they need so as long as your giving them everything, the prenatal is to help you replenish your own body supply. The only thing I was told that I needed to take extra of in pill form was folic acid, but I opted to take prenatals anyways then added extra calcium a few months ago due to my finger nails becoming brittle and an increase in teeth issues.
