Where about are you? In Australia you can have a blood test if you can't tolerate the fasting. I did it with my first pregnancy and passed out in the waiting room and was low risk anyway. This time OB happy for a blood test only. I'd do it again if I had risk factors but it's pretty cruel for women with morning sickness and low blood sugar levels in my opinion.

You can skip it.. But it could be detrimental. You could end up having gestational diabetes and not know it. That could put you and your baby at risk.

Definitely do it. I did it and unfortunately I do have gestational diabetes. Better to know and manage it as untreated gestational diabetes is unsafe for you and your baby. Please have it done. It was a blessing in disguise for me, I am now much healthier due to increased exercise and eating well. Before I was struggling with weight gain and was feeling really crappy. I've actually lost weight but the baby is doing well.

It was awful last time! I have to do it twice this pregnancy because I'm having twins! Ugh! Make sure to have plenty of protein to munch on after the test and stay far away from any more sugar! Good luck!

Expecting baby number 2 this summer. Just had my test, comfirmed with my Lab Tech that no fasting was required, and showed up first thing in the morning to drink that horrid drink (I do not like sweets so this is tuff to swallow) Registered with Blood clinic, did my hour wait by surfing Facebook and Reddit. Took the techs 20mins to find a vein for blood work (happens everytime, shy veins they call them) luckily I had a bunch of other things to get tested so they got all they needed. All in all took 1 hour and 20mins out of my day and for me is worth the piece of mind. My doctor wanted it done and I trust her so I does as she requests

It is ultimately up to you, but some dr will ask you to transfer care if you refuse the test.

I had to take it with bitb my pregnancies and while it's ***** waiting an hour, it's worth it to know in my opinion

It's really up to you whether you have it done or not. I've skipped mine with my last 4 pregnancies.
