Group B Strep

So I tested positive and my doc I shouldn't sit at home in labor for more then an hour because I need to get my antibiotics started ASAP. My question is have any of you already mommy's dealt with this before and how did things turn out? I am worried about my baby being sick

My second baby was fine and wasn't born with any affects because of the GBS, even though I didn't have the antibiotics

I have had it with both previous pregnancies, the first pregnancy I got the antibiotic, the second the baby came so fast that I barely made it to the hospital to have the baby and didn't have the antibiotic, with this one I asked my midwife about giving me an oral antibiotic while I'm pregnant so I will test negative and not worry if I make it in time to be given the med at the hospital...which is an option ( my first delivery was 4hrs 21min, my second was exactly 3hr) which I may have to go to Doctor H about the antibiotics, cause my midwife isn't really wanting to give me the oral antibiotics...

Basically the strep b bacteria different  from what causes strep throat lives in our bodies like so many other bacteria good and bad and when we're pregnant and test positive were said to be `colonized` so not really anything you can do about it or to prevent it its not an std. Just means you need antibiotics during labor to prevent it passing to baby.

Your baby can get very sick and possibly die. Also can be blind. I had it with my second and get my testing next week to see if I have it with this baby

Most antibiotics run at 30 minuets at a time. And to get two doses in before your deliver should take about an hour if the nurse is jonny on the spot hanging them which rarely happens. You should get four doses total before they stop the antibiotics. So even after you delievr you should get a few.

I have had it everytime I've been preg. So I've never had my baby get sick bc I've always had the antibiotics. But it is very dangerous if not treated for your baby. I was very disapointed bc I wanted to labor at home as much as I could but I can't with this baby bc I need the antibiotics and you need two doses before you deliver and my labors before only lasted 5 hours this being my third it could happen quicker...
