HCG level not doubling?

Hi. I am 31 years old & only 6 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. My OB sent me to check my HCG level, 48 hours apart. The first test was 6090 & the 2nd was 7542. She said it should've doubled within that time period & said there is a 50/50 chance of miscarriage & wants me to get my levels checked again tomorrow. I am extremely nervous that it will not double & I will lose the baby.. Has anyone else had this problem without having a miscarriage & go on to have a healthy baby?

Your numbers will stop doubling at some point.  At 6wks, you can have an u/s to see what is going on.  But, if you do, know that sometimes heartbeats aren't heard until around 7 weeks, mane closer to 8.  Good luck!

Thanks! I actually got the results back from the 3rd test & my level went up to 16260. I go for an ultrasound next Thursday so I'm hopeful that the baby is okay :) I didn't have the hcg checked w/ my first or an ultrasound until I was 10 weeks. I think my OB is being extra cautious this time b/c I had a mammogram & xrays on my teeth around the time of my LMP.
