My two year old was born hypoglycemic , his sugar was real low when he was born so they rushed him to the nicu. He was there for about a week. He had iv and we tried controlling his sugar with milk. I meanwhile had high blood pressure so I was in there the same amount of time as he was. He was actually gonna be discharged before me cus he recovered in a couple of days. And he's never had an issue again.
First off, let me start with congratulations!! And I am so sorry you are going through this: -( just keep in mind the Dr's and nurse's are trained and they will have baby ready to be home in no time. Both of my children had jaundice, my daughter, my first had to St as y a extra day, leaving the hospital was the hardest thing for me to do!! But every feeding we came up to feed her. My son Dr didn't have to stay but it's still hard.
If this helps put your mind at ease. A friend of mine, whom isn't making the best choices in life right now, had her baby in July. She's really bad on herion "excuse my spelling? " 7 hours after birth the baby started going through bad with draws. Long story short, her baby had to stay a extra month. But is doing better now. She's a fat lil thing!! Lol.
So I wish you the best in this journey. and prayers to you + baby
I am sorry. All my children have been in the NICU, but all for different reasons. It will be okay. He might have to stay a few days but all will be okay. My prayers go out to you. My only advice is ask questions as many as it takes to get you to feel more comfortable. You can ask different people too. Don't be afraid to ask different doctors or nurses. Good luck stay strong.
