Have you been induced?

I'm scheduled for Friday ...I heard being induced is the worst. Does anyone else have experience?

I was induced because I was a week past due and had low amniotic fluid. Labor took about 27 hours and the contractions were extremely unbearable and intense, which I hear are the case when you are induced as opposed to going naturally. The baby was too high, so they turned off the epidural so I could push more effectively. I pushed for a little over 2 hours. Long story short, it was awful. But every birth is different! Hopefully yours goes smoother than mine, and in the end, it was all worth it anyways!

I feel a little but better now. I'm just worried about the pain. I have low pain tolerance. But thanks for making me feel better.

Don't worry you will be fine. Everybody experience is different. We like to have everything planned and with childbirth can't be done. On the day just go with the flow and trust in the experience in the medical staff around you, who deliver babies everyday. Have good communication with them and they will be able to reassure you. Tell them your worries and fears.

Don't worry!! I've had one natural delivery (no epidural), one induced labor (with epidural) and one induced (without epidural). It is true that contractions are way more "intense" than going into labor naturally, but my favorite delivery so far was my second (which was my first induced labor). The hardest part with that one was getting the I.V. LOL

And, if your wondering on hours of labor, my first was 9 1/2, second was 6 hours, and third was 4 hours.

The advice I'd give is to have your plan ready. If you are for an epidural, don't hesitate to ask for it when it becomes too intense. If you have any concerns, address them with your labor nurses prior to induction. They can set your mind at ease. No question is dumb for them either. The more informed you are, the easier it is on you and them. And try not to stress. Good luck and keep us posted!

I was induced at 38 weeks and it was a 23 hour labor and the delivery only took 5 minutes. I had to get an epidural after 11 hours. The weirdest part was my body wasn't ready to go into labor so it took the doctors 45 minutes to get the placenta out. And that hurt so much worse then the contractions or the birth of my daughter.

I was induced with my first two at about the same gestational age. First time labor was easy, and lasted 5 hours. Second time labor was 16 hours, stopped in the middle and had to get induced again, and contractions were horrible. I went on to have two more children and went into labor on my own, and labor was much easier. I am now pregnant with number 5 and wont just like the last two I wont let them induce me again. I went 9 days over due last time and it was worth it!

Now I'm worried
No need to be worried, whatever happens will happen. All birth stories are different so there is really no telling how yours will end, other than with your baby in your arms, and it will be worth it.

It really depends on how far along you are. The earlier you are in pregnancy the "worse" it may be since your body isn't ready to go into labor. I have heard it sometimes easier the later you are, since your body just needs a little push to jump start labor. Pitocin is not fun and brings on strong intense contractions. If you plan on getting an epidural it may be easier on you just know doing a natural birth with pitocin is very hard. It can be done but it will harder on you than a normal labor your body would have started. Good luck you.
