Induction Scheduled

Just got back fro my 40 week checkup. I am still only a centimeter dialated. I am 40+3, and just so done with it all, so I opted to be induced. I go into the hospital at 4 pm Monday. has anyone ever been induced before and can tell me kinda what to expect when I get there??

They want to give me cytotec, I got news for them I am not consenting to that it is not even FDA approved for inducing labor and I have heard all kinds of horrible stories about it.

Oh I should mention that I didnt have an epidural. I refused any pain meds. Not for everyone. Next time around I had a vbac with a bigger baby. No epidural either.

I was only dilated a centimeter and a half when my water broke at 40+4. Stayed that way for HOURS after as well....so it could still happen.  Pitocin with an epidural already in is a piece of cake.

I wasnt induced but I had to go through the motions of jump starting my labor. Which included having to have my water broken and being given pitocin.
Pitocin will make you tired, fast! It causes contractions stronger than natural ones. My best advice to you is to save your energy! I was too excited so I stayed awake while laboring. I was on the phone with everyone. I ended up having a c section. The rate of c section with induction is scary!
So just rest,realx... do NOT scream through your contractions. You will waste energy! I screamed lol it got me nowhere.

They will break your water moSt likely. They have a little thingy that looks a bit like a crochet hook. Bit of pain...then GUSH.

Be positive. Own your birthing experience. They like to boss first timers around in order to make things go smoothly for them.

Theres still time for you to go into labor naturally!
Good luck!

I was induced with both my boys and its very easy they break your water and thats when the contraction start you  will be leaking fluid and just twinges of blood not a lot and then if your not up to speed they will then give you patocin dont think i spelled it right but this will speed up your labor alot you contractions will soon be more intense i hope this helps good luck and congrats on your lil one

I was induced on monday. i wasnt dialating (only 1cm for like a month) so they gave me a catheter with a bulb on the end to inflate my cervix to try to dialate me. they also started an iv with pitocin to cause contractions. after about 4 hrs i got an epidural. i was in labor 27 hrs and ended up having a c section bc my cervix was funnel shaped.
