I had very low iron levels, nearly less then half of what im supposed to have, I started making this juice, fresh spinach, apple and honey, every day a large glass, helped me go to the toilets and my iron levels have gone back up to a normal level. hope it helps and good luck!!!
Also caffeine inhibits iron from absorbing. I quit coffee when I found out I was preggers but when I found out I was low iron I also quit tea, chocolate etc. Drink three liters of water to keep hydrated which should help the bowels move. Maybe try prune juice?
I have low iron, My dr advised me to take 2 iron tablets a day with orange juice, eat plenty of red meat, chicken, fish, have atleast 2 eggs a day, eat plenty of green vegetables and strawberries (they actually contain a fair abit of iron.

Make sure you don't take the iron at the same time as calcium. It actually affects the absorption so that the iron doesn't get absorbed as well. I take my iron at night with vitamin c. That's the best thing to take it with.
If you buy raw iron it won't constipate you. I'm on an iron supplement for kow iron and I am taking the garden of life raw iron and it does not cause constipation. My midwife told me it takes several weeks of taking a supplement to build the iron baxk up in your system.
Red meats is what has the iron ie steak..chicken not so much..lots of dark green veggies...to get ur system moving u need more fibre ie bran cereal etc. .
I have to take 3 a day and I drink lots of water eat lots of chicken. I not bin in over a week only bin on the tables as from Thursday and befor that I could only go once a week x
I don't believe that fruit is a good source of iron. You should be eating red meats, chicken, spinach, oats. The iron usually takes time to build up in the system. You may also need to take more than one tablet per day (which your doctor should adivse you on the dosage). Iron can make you consitpated, so make sure you have a high fiber diet with a lot of water. I found that it only constipated me the first couple of days of taking it and then it was fine.
