Labor: Where were you? What were you doing?
Thought this would be a good thread to see what everyone was up to when labor hit? For me, I was induced both time. I did have preterm labor with my second but they were able to stop it (32wks)... I was at home.. I got up one morning, felt so-so..I remember feeling a little nauseated. I tried taking a few sips of tea but couldn't stand the taste of it. Thought well maybe I'm hungry, so I fixed a bowl of lucky charms. I took one bite and couldn't eat anymore. A few minutes later, I started having diarrhea and then throwing up. I thought maybe I had a stomach bug or morning sickness came back...
I laid around for the longest time that day. And by night time my stomach was crampy. Wasn't too bad but it was enough that DH said just call in and tell them you're coming. I got there and was in labor. Didn't even know it. They gave me some shots to stop the labor. And those things hurt! lol

I do plan to have a natural delivery this time! NO EPI FOR ME!
With my first my husband and I went into the hospital on a Wednesday night for me to get induced. They placed the cervidel into my lady part. I started having a little cramping about an hr later which was at 12midnight. The nurse brought in a pain pill. I took a nap and woke back up at around 2:30am with bad contractions..they called in the anesthesiologist for my epi. Once they finished I felt beyond great. They checked me and I was only 2cm!the nurse started me on pitocin. I fell asleep and basically slept all Thursday and woke up to speak to my guest and when being checked. Around 10pm the nurse came in I was 8cm with a high fever. The nurse called in other nurse to call my doctor. They put me on antibiodics. I was checked about 45mins later and I was 9.5cm. Still had a very high fever. We waited for my docter while I did a few trial pushes but my son wouldn't budge.the epi wore off the anesthesiologist tried pumping more in but it didnt work. The contractions were very painful and back to back. My son stayed on my left side and his heart rate kept dropping. By that time they prep me for an emergency c-Section..my doctor arrived at 12midnight. The anesthesiologist redid my epi. My son was born oct 1st that friday at 1:47am. I was due sept 29th.
With my daughter I was picking my sis up from the ER at the hospital I was delivering at. My husband and our son was at the store getting the car seat for our baby girl that wasnt due until the following week. Anyhow, I was driving back home when I felt a wet sensation and I said to myself did I just pee on myself.. then I was like ooook. Then I felt more come out. I told both of my sisters. I think my water just broke. Lol, they both stared at me without saying anything for about 2mins then I said it again. They both said are u serious I said yes cause I know I'm not peeing this long. I called my husband while I was sitting at a red light. Thr store was right across that light I was waiting at. He was at the same light going back home too. We all got home at the same time. I took a shower. My water was still coming out did not stop. We pulled up at the entrance of the hospital. My husband went in to check me in then BAM!! the contractions started coming. My husband wheeled me in. It was baby city that day! They took me into my room. I changed into a hospital gown and they checked to b sure if it was my waters. Before she could get it close enough my waters gushed out some more and the nurse said oh yes most certainly your water broke..lol. it was maybe 6pm that Wednesday. They checked me and I was 3cm. The doctor they had at the hospital didnt want to deliver my baby via vbac. They called my doctor she was nowhere to be found. They gave me a consent form to sign stating I wanted a vbac. I got a bit discouraged and they let me think on it but I had to sign before active labor. In which I was already in. Th e nurse came in told me to make a decision cause I was already in labor. I signed and labored great for a couple of hours and then my contractions slowed all the way down around 10pm. They did a shift change and I got a nurse from heaven! She checked me and I was only 4cm. She let me rest then came in periodically to check on me. It was about 12noon Thursday and my nurse came in to check and I was at 5cm. Dhr suggested that I get an epi being that it was do many women delivering. I agreed and hate that I did. My heart rate went up and it hurted when he inserted it. My nurse relaxed me and my heart rate went back to normal. After about an hr I was checked and my nurse told me my contractions are not picking up and ask how do I feel about receiving pitocin. I told her I know the risk and being that I'm a vbac patient I was kinda scared but she comforted me and promised to put me on the lowest dose and that she wouldn't do anything to put me or my baby in danger. I said ok. My contractions picked up I was checked and was 6.5cm at 3pm. Around 5pm I was 8.5cm they called the other doc which was already at the hospital and also worked with my doctor to come in and he said he'll deliver my baby. I was checked 30mins later and I was 9cm. I did a few trial pushed. I saw my baby's head crowning in the mirror. They called the doctor in. I pushed a few times and my baby head came out then one push and she was all the way out Thursday, Feb 1st at 6:28pm!

Well I only have 1. It was my due date the 4th of february 2008. I had my regular checkup in the morning. My midwife didn't check for dilation but just felt my stomach and said she isn't ready. Later that evenin I started feeling a bit different. No pains just a bit different so I asked a friend 2 take me 2 er 2 make sure all was well. On reachin there and being examined, I saw blood on d gloves. I asked y and she said I was in labor and that I was already 4 cm dilated. That was like 9pm on the 4th. They then decided they'll transfer me to the hospital with an ambulance. I reached there at 11pm and they checked me and I was at 6cm without pain. I just laid there waitin and nothin wasn't happenin. About 1 am I was so tired jus doin nothin that I told the nurses I was ready. They said ok and I just pushed and pushed. I had 2 go in different positions doh. I eventually was told to go stand between the two beds and hold the bar while squatting and push. It worked I felt somethin and I put my hand and they said lie down baby is crownin. I did and with a few pushes baby was out pain free. Had my baby on 5th of february 2008 @ 2:25am. I had a little tear doh but it wasn't bad enough to get stitches. I am now 38 week with second babygirl. Hoping for a safe and fast delivery.

I'm actually nervous about this time around...with how the first two were so quick and I here they only get quicker. My Dr teases me saying once I get to 37 weeks for me to call him before I sneeze. Lmbo
With my first I had gone to work on Friday (day before due date) and about mid morning my mom called me at work worried that I would have the baby at work and my boss being a mother herself said for me to go ahead and go on over to the hospital since we were only about 5 blocks. Mom n dad met me there and the burse said that (like I thought) I wasn't in labour, the contractions were irregular between every 8 to 5min. So I went back to work and finished my day...even stayed over due to the fact I left midmorning. I felt great.
I got home from work, decided i need to eat started cooking but my back hurt so bad i asked my dad to finish cooking for me and went down to my room, the only place I could get comfortable was on the floor. My Mon got home from work at 11 and wanted to talk to me so she called me and asked me to come up, I basically crawled up the stairs half from being in a fitful sleep have because of the contractions I had been have speratically all day. I sat and talked to her best I could concentrate and about one she asked me how close the contractions were I told her about 6 to 4 min...she wanted to take me to the hosbital then and I told her no I wasn't in labor. So we continued talking and was timing the contractions and they still varied but were coming between 2.5 and 1min apart so she told my dad that we were going (my husband was working an overnight and being so close to d-day I was sleeping at my parents in my old room)
When we got to the hospital and got up stairsmy ccontractions had slowed to between 6 and 4min apart and still irregular they said that they could admit me and would have to send me home. But one of the nurses said if I wanted to walk the maternity floor and just hang out up there that was fine (mid of the night and nothing really going on up there that night anyways LoL)
So I hung out with my mom just walking, I made it about 4 and a half laps around doubled over with a contraction then became VERY nauseous. I took of running down the corridor and about 6ft from the bathroom I started to vomit and I vomited all to the bathroom. SMH. What a night to remember, the nurse got me a robe to change into and I felt better getting cleaned up and I still wasn't in labor, I walked two more laps but by the time I got back around to the maternity floor door the contractions were a consistent 3min so they decided to admit me at 5am. I was only 2cm Dialated so they figured we had a long morning a head us... LoL, boy were they wrong.
My water broke at 5:30 and things went very fast from that point.
My dad went a grab Hardee's for breakfast about 6:30 and I yelled at him to get it out of my room (the smell made me sick to my stomach) thankfully my husband walked in sometime shortly after about 7:45) and my parents left the two of us while they ate out in the waiting room. At 8:45 the nurse checked me, I was only at 8cm...I told her to call my Dr and she said that we have time and that she would call in about an hour. She no more than walked out of the room I called her back in and the baby was already crowning. She told me to wait...really? Wait?! The hospital OB delivered my first daughter at 8:51am
My second delivery was less eventful...I woke up Wednesday (week before my due date though Dr was going to induce me on Saturday to insure that my husband could be there cause he was off that weekend, and with how quick I delivered my first it was also to calm me down)
Anyhow woke that Wednesday at 5am with tons of energy...I woke my husband to have sex with me after we finished I cleaned up and told him since the baby was still sleeping (and so was he) I was going for a walk. I left the house at 6:30am and labor started at 6:45. The contractions started 4 min apart. I would walk about a block then stop for the contraction. It took me longer to get him stopping every 4min but i made it back home and tokd my husband i was goi g to take a shower to releave the cramping in my back. My mother called cause she was going to pick the two year old up for the day and she asked were i was, he told her i was in the shower and she aaked about the contractions so he asked me i said "Oh about 4min apart," so he as he taljed to her he was like well here's one....here's one they were about a 1.5min apart my mom said get her out of there and take her to the hospital we will meet you up there to take the baby. I arrived at the hospital at 9:15am and baby #2 was here at 9:45.
The nurses were surprised, cause there was another woman there that morning that was "close" to delivery when I arrived and I had my baby girl about half an hour before she had her baby

I was 16 years old with my first. It was the night before my due date and wasnt having any signs of labor, well me and the babys daddy decided to have sex and 5 mins after I started having contractions and they started out 5 mins apart. I went across the house and told my mom I thought I was having contractions and she told me it was false labor to but a heating pad under my back. I tried it and 15 mins later nothing this time i crawled on my hands and knees to my moms room and she still told me false labor take a warm bath and put a rolled up blanket under my back after I got out. Well I took a bath and after I got out started having diarrhea and throwing up crawled back to my moms room and she told me to have my boyfriend take me to the hospital and call her if the admitted me. Contractions started at 8 pm it was 2 am by time I got to the doctors and yep I was in labor so the admitted me I had my daughter 839am. With my second I went to see my midwife had her do a membrane sweep since it was 2 days before my due date and I had been having false labor for 2 weeks straight. When my appointment was over I got dressed and walked to my car started having contraction while driving home and had my daughter that night. And with my third I woke up about 10am 4 days after my due date having contractions called my husband to come home to take me to the hospital but he figured he had time so he stayed at work for 2 hours then came we went to the hospital and i was 8cm had him about 3 hours after we got to the hospital.
With my first kid I woke up one morning with lots of blood. Got scared was real young and didnt know what was going on. I didn't have any pains or contractions but still went to the hospital to get checked. They checked me and was dilated I think about a 5 so they kept me. 8hours later little man was born. With my second it was one day before my due date and I had been having horrible contractions and lots of bleeding. Went to the hospital but since I wasn't open far enough and contractions were not so close together they send me home. I was in too much pain though and had been in pain all day with the contractions. My mom and sister were there with me and couldn't believe they send me home as bad as I was so the told me to walk around so I could help progress. Walked to the nearest jack in the box because I was super beyond hungry also. After that walked around for about an hour in pain and all. And once my contractions were close together went back in and got admitted. Had my baby about 2hours after. My third I was induced due to health problems. It was avery short labor. Two hours to be exact. Started the induction at 9am and had my little girl by 11 don't know how or why so fast but I was thankful.
