Labour?

I'm 39 weeks + 2 days pregnant, and lately I've been having alot of pressure in my private area and backside and increased Braxton hicks, which has only really been a bit uncomfortable more than anything...I had my antenatal appointment yesterday and bub has wiggled right down which is good and must explain the pressure...but tonight I was cooking dinner and my belly tightened really badly to the point where I actually had to stop what I was doing and I got alot of pressure in my nether regions...it wasn't painful, but it was really, really uncomfortable. I've never had it that bad before. Could this be the start of labour or just a bad Braxton hicks contraction? It hasn't continued and/or been regular, but it was more intense to what I've experienced before. I'm a first time mum, so I'm a teeny bit clueless so any help would be appreciated :) thanks!!

Thanks for your comments guys, I appreciate it :) nothing has happened as yet, still waiting, but I have dropped heaps in the last two days and had little twinges of cramping, so hopefully she's on her way! :)

Your getting close but I wouldn't say it means your baby is coming any sooner.  You could be prego for another 2+ weeks.  But hopefully this is your body doing some of the work without the pain for you:-)

Sounds like things could be starting to happen.  I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and my bh contractions have definitely increased and I'm feeling alot more pressure and burning plus cramping and back pain.  I'm really hoping something will happen by the end of the weekend.  Good luck!
