I was diagnosed with it last year. You also have to take a baby aspirin due to you are at a higher risk for blood clots more so than a person without the gene.

I was diagnosed with it also after my last child was born. The way it was explained to me was that it is a cell mutation that puts me at higher risk for miscarriage and neural tube disorders like spina bifida. There are several degrees and combination that you may have that can cause other health problems besides the pregnancy related ones. From a pregnancy stand point basically the mutation makes it difficult for our bodies to absorb folic acid....which is something we need for healthy pregnancies. In addition to the prenatal I already take since I am pregnant again I also take FolaPro L-methyl tetrahydrofolate by Metagenics. I get it from my doctor. It is a higher dose of folic acid I also take B12. I hope you can get the answers you need from your ob/gyn. Some doctors are not very informed about it..so you have to be your own advocate to get the help you need for a successful pregnancy. Lots of information on the internet. Good luck to you.
