Materinty Leave

Is anyone planning on working until they deliver?  I only get a max of 12 weeks off (all unpaid) and as it sits right now I plan on working until delivery. As a FTM I am wondering if this is even an option?  Has anyone done it before?

I want to work as long as possible because I only get 6 weeks from the FMLA here. I have to put in when I'm going out beforehand though (i'm a teacher) and I have no idea what date to put! I think as long as your body can handle it you'll be fine.

I'm going to try and work right up until I go into labour. The hospital is closer to my work anyways.

I am pregnant for the first time too and I am starting maternity leave today I am 38 weeks plus 6 days. I will be taking 12 weeks off. My last too weeks working were really hard as I was super sleepy, tired, and full of anxiety thinking about the baby and what if I went on labor at work. Honestly I will recommend talking to your manager and HR let them know you would like to work as long as you possibly can. You can do it. Good luck!

I'm going to try to work until the end, I know some girls I work with worked up until delivery and we're on our feet all day so I'm going to try to do it as long as my doctor says it's okay and I'm not in pain. I'd rather take the time to spend with my baby then sit at home.

I get 12 unpaid. I signed up for short term disability through my job so I can get at least 60 percent of my salary.  I have vacation and sick time saved. I'm working until I can't

Im going to work as long as I can. I work in a retail setting on my feet. I plan on working either until doctor says i cant or I get really close to having little man. I get the time I want off as long as I need, but it's all unpaid. I had a co-worker that did the same a couple weeks ago. She worked up until 4 days before she had her little girl.

I'm going a month before baby is born. I am high risk. However in Canada we have a full year of maternity pay.

I think my job give you 6 weeks but I don't think I'm returning after work until my baby isat least 3 months. I bbeen saving so I'll be OK. The father makes great money plus I also have my baby during tax time. And I'm leaving a month and a half before he get here.  Xmas and Chicago weather I refuse to be outside big and cold

With my 1st I worked all the way up to the day my water broke at 40 weeks. I work in an office so it wasnt a big deal at all since I sit all day. This time I am planning to do the same thing. :)

I an glad to hear I'm not the only one. I work in an office and sit behind a desk all day so I won't be on my feet which will help a lot I am sure. I have very little leave and as I have to see 3 dr I use about 2 hours about month so it's not accumulating very fast! I just want as much time at home as possible after baby is born.  I know I have to go back to work but I am already dreading it about snd this little one won't be here until march!

Yup I'm working until I can't either I'm only allowed to leave for 6 weeks unpaid.  So I'm using my short term disability and then I'm using whatever acrued time I have to stretch that for as long as I can.  I keep worrying though that since we have one car if I go into labor while at work how is my guy gonna get to the hospital.  I live next to one but I work at another 30 minutes away.

You can work as long as your body can handle it. I'm 36 weeks and still working.  When I'm tired I give a day away to my coworker so I can rest.
