No baby yet

Approaching my due date which is on Monday.  My baby still seems to be high up,  only 1 cm dilated and contractions are 6 min apart.  No pain I can't deal with and my doc says hopefully he'll come this weekend.  If not Monday I have an appt for followup and progress.  If nothing happens by then,  baby has a week to come on his own until they induce me the following kidney.  Ughhhh  anything I can do to make him drop? I've been having sex all week,  and walking miles! I don't want to be induced.  Any advice will help thanks

Only a small percentage of babies are born on their due date. I was 3 days late, so was my sister.  They won't induce you unless something is wrong. Like high blood pressure etc. When you get a due date, it's safe to say that your baby will come between a week before the due date to a week after.

Due on Tuesday and in the same boat. Doc wants me in on Wed to do a check if I haven't delivered yet and to schedule me for induction. :-(

Nothing you can do!! Babies never really come on the due date, well only 5% of women give birth on their due date but i highly doubt you'll go into labour on your due date. Due dates are just an estimate, really...

Hang in there. I'm due Monday as well. Last week I was dilated to a 3 and I've been walking also. I refuse to get induced! It's up to us in the end. Stand your ground!!!

Baby's position nor dilation tell you anything about when labor will start. You can always refuse an induction and request non-stress tests instead. Your doctor is just being impatient and is trying to scare you for no reason. Lots of pregnancies go until 42+ weeks and babies are just fine. Your body and baby will do what they need when they are ready... The problem with an induction is that it doesn't always work. It will put you as high risk as soon as they start the pitocin and if you don't progress as fast as they want, you will then require a c-section. Inductions are bad news. Not for everyone, but there is a reason why there is a higher rate of cs with inductions and there is a reason why there are so many more cs happening now than ever before. Doctors are becoming impatient and automatically want to medicalize labor and birth, ie inductions. I'm not trying to scare you. I just feel like more moms need to speak up to their doctor and not allow the doctor to make all the decisions in the labor and birth.
