Sciatica

So, I've had sciatica issues since the beginning of my pregnancy, but I started prenatal yoga around 15 weeks and the sciatica pain had nearly vanished.  Well... Since the holidays came around, yoga is postponed till after the new year.  I haven't had classes for 2 weeks and I swear I can barely stand this evening.  The pain is terrible.  What else can I do btwn now and January to assuage the pain? Non medication remedies please.

I'm 21+5, first time mom.

Go buy a small tennis ball. Put it between you and where the pain is.. your back area or butt area etc and move up against it. It will help losen it, and it makes my flair ups go away. I learnt it in Pilates and it has been a saving grace for pain!!! Also you can sit on it. I found from weight distribution of pregnancy we tighten our gutless to help bare the weight and this helps amazingly there as well. It will hurt!!!!!!! But it will help a lot, make sure it's a hard tiny ball.

When you sleep, I would also put a pillow between your knees to keep your hips/spine straight. I had horrible sciatic pain in the beginning of my pregnancy, then I sprained a foot so the awkward walking also worsened the sciatic pain.  Between trying new positions and the pillow between my knees (and the foot is better) the pain is gone.  I hope something helps for you.

I'm not sure if this applies to you,  but some cable companies have an "on demand" feature where you can pick what you want to watch. There's usually a health and fitness section.  I'm not sure if you'll find prenatal yoga,  but it's worth it to check to see.

I try and I do some of the poses and stretches buuut I don't know if it's because my uterus is getting bigger and is sitting right on that nerve but it hurts terribly.  I mainly try the poses that pull my uterus off my spine (momentarily of course) but I'm just scared that I might be doing a pose unsafely... That's why I do the class... She modifies poses based on our individual week.

My husband massages the area sometimes too.

You could try some of the yoga you remember from class in your home.
