Skipping appointment

I just wanted to know if anyone has skipped any appointments during their pregnancy. I'm 29 weeks and they have me scheduled every two weeks now. I decided to skip this appointment since I called in yesterday and asked if I was having an ultrasound and they said just a check up. All my tests came back fine and baby I are both healthy. I just really want an ultrasound to see how my son is doing and if he turned upside down yet, but I guess I won't know until I'm like 35 weeks or so.

I would talk to your midwife. I know mine has been very comfortable with setting apointments with what I need, not an arbitrary standard. I went every 5-6 weeks initally, and at 30weeks ever 2 weeks, and 34 weeks we will meet weekly.

You hired a professional to care for you. You have say in your care with their knowledge of your individual client file, not the general recommendations. Your file could require more apointments or less. Work as a team with your midwife to find a balance.

My appointments have only been once a month until now, 36 weeks. Then my next is 38. That's just how kaiser does it!

My first 2 pregnancies I had 2 ultrasounds and then near the end only had more due to checking fluid levels and nonstress test..this pregnancy I've only had 2 ultrasounds and I have a booked csec for Monday and haven't had any other ultrasounds so don't count on another ultrasound unless there's a serious reason to do so

Agreed with a pervious poster. They are checking for numerous ailments that don't always have symptoms. I suggest going to your appointment. My doctor doesn't do ultrasounds past 20 weeks unless there is a concern.

I prolong apt all the time. Instead of scheduling every 4 weeks I do 5. When I am supposed to go to every 2 weeks I still do four until the last month. My doctor understands that I know my body better than her, and I do understand pregnancy. I am not high risk. I have other children and I am a busy mama, doctor understands that and has no problem with my different schedule to better fit me. Talk to you doctor about it before making an apt!

The appointments whether you have an ultrasound or not are to lmake sure baby is growing and moving a nd they listen to the heartbeat to make sure baby is doing good inside your womb. They are checking your urine for protein for signs of infection and for pre eclampsia and they are monitoring your blood pressure for pre eclampsia. My mom had my sister at 29 weeks because when she went in for her appointment she was having what she thought were braxton Hicks contractions. Turned out that the contractions were hurting my sister. Everytime she had one my sisters heart rate went down. They had to get my sister out right away and we are all thankful and blessed she made it. I know the appointments can seem daunting and useless if you're not having an ultrasound but there is a reason for the tests they do whether they are simple or not. Unless you have complications you probably won't have another ultrasound till around 34 to 36 weeks pregnant and that's to make sure baby is in the right position for birth. By them simply checking the heart rate of your baby and your blood pressure and urine, they are trying to prevent any life threatening issues for you and baby.

They don't need to do an ultrasound to tell you if your baby is head down or not. They can tell just by feel.

If you didn't cancel,  you should at least do that.  Don't just not show up - that makes you look a little irresponsible.

I've never skipped an appt. I guess it wouldn't hurt if you aren't having issues, but I probably still would go just in case.
