St Christopher pendant for baby

My mother-in-law has a St Christopher pendant on the chain that used to belong to my partner and she wants to give it to our baby once she's born. It's pure gold so shouldn't irritate the skin. I have nothing against that religion-wise but I'm just not sure would it be safe to put it on little baby's neck. What do you think girls? I thought about hanging it securely above baby's head in the carry-cot (I'm getting silver cross sleepover pram that works as a mosses basket as well). And from what age to you think it will be safe to put it on baby's neck?

How about she holds onto it until your daughter turns 13 then there will be a huge significance for your daughter to - becoming a teenager is a huge deal as you may remember and it shows that you think of her as an adult.

I would say no as it presents a choking hazard.

Especially with the sentimental value of it, personally I would not give it to or put it on my child until they are mature enough to not lose or break it. If your MIL gets upset, I would just explain that you do not want it getting damaged. And as far as her young child wearing it, we now know things mothers did not back then. Just do what you feel is best for your baby. :)

Cheers girls
Mother-in-law said that the one she had for her first son has teeth marks because the baby chewed on it while he was teething which obviously means she did put in on little baby's neck. That's why she thought I will do same thing but I'm just not confident with this idea. And I think even later on I wouldn't send a child with a valuable jewellery to a nursery/school or to play out and about.

Your idea of putting it above the cot is the best idea huni not a good idea to put it on baby

I agree I would not put a necklace of any kind on baby or toddler strangulation or choking hazard

Personally not for MANY years, it would be a strangulation hazard
