Taking Antibiotics In The First Trimester

Hi, I have a sinus infection and the doctor has prescribed me Augmentin. I hate taking medication when I'm pregnant but I need to get better :( I am only 8 weeks. Has anyone else taken antibiotics in their first trimester?

I was on antibiotics at 6-7 weeks and checked with both ob and head pharmacist as it was dentist who prescribed off of the pregnancy safe list of meds.

I'm 14 weeks and on antibiotics now for a sinus infection I was worried too but they wouldn't prescribe it if it wasnt safe.its not good to just let the infection stay and not treat it.

I was also prescribed augmentin for a sinus infection around 20wks. It is a very strong drug that comes with lots of side effects. I got very sick from the effects of it and was switched to amoxicillin. It is however safe for baby to be on it

I had some bacteria in my urine when i was severely dehydrated week nine i took antibiotics for that...docs are aware of what could hurt your baby and would not give it to you if it would compromise your pregnancy.  Feel better it is all gonna be alright.  I'm almost out of first  trimester and can't wait!

I had the exact same at around 12 weeks and took antibiotics for it, I'm now 39 weeks and have had no complications - it's more dangerous for you to be very ill as your body may go into survival mode and focus on fixing you and not keeping baby healthy. As long as your doctor knows your pregnant and has prescribed these drugs to you then they are safe to take!! Hope you feel better soon, get some rest and keep your fluid levels up xx
