I picked up a food borne illness while in MX in September & my doctor put menon an antibiotic.. it was azithromycin & it was a pregnancy category B (no evidence of risk).I don't know if it treats typhoid though & what I had was not typhoid. I was so relived as the other person who responded is correct.. typhoid is very very dangerous to the baby. Definitely treat immediately.

Typhoid is rare in developed countries...just out of curiosity do you know how you contracted it? People with typhoid Are normally hospitalized...especially pregnant women. I don't mean to sound rude but my goodness what is your doctor thinking?! I also don't know where you live (not everyone on this site is from US). This can be a life threatening illness to both mother AND baby....it can be transferred to baby. I'm not trying to scare you but i would demand more answers from the doctor and/or go the hospital and get another opinion on whether you and baby have to be monitored. I would think you definitely would have to be.
