Vitamins????

so my doctor did give me some prenatal vitamins that I refuse to take everyday. They're way too big so I'll buy my own. Do any of you recommend any brands that has a good source of Iron because mine is very low

Take any prenatal and then take an extra iron supplement if that's what you're low in, as you probably won't find a prenatal with high enough iron in it :)

Make sure they have enough Calcium as well. Mine have 200mg, it was fine at first. But during 2nd trimester my gums started bleeding and nails became frail.. So I started taking additional Calcium - 600mg/daily.

I was told by my doctor to get the Centrum Materna at the start of my pregnancy.. but before I got pregnant, I've been taking the prenatal vitamins from Costco (Kirkland brand). They are cheaper and almost has the same stuff as the other brand. He said it's ok to continue the Costco brand one. All he prescribed after was extra folic acid and iron supplements that I took until about 7 months. Now, all I am taking is the prenatal vitamin and I am 38w3d.

I take nature made prenatals plus DHA. They have everything in one pill but are a bit on the big side. They are rated pretty well! They have what you need minus the titanium dioxide chemical that some prenatals have that research suggests causes birth defects. The only thing Im disappointed about with them is the level of iodine. The nature made prenatals have no iodine in them and Im not a huge salt eater. So I try to compensate and cook more with iodized salt and eat more foods high in iodine plus Ive just recently added some seaweed to my diet just a few days a week!

Which ever u decide on. Take them to ur doc n ask him if those r ok. Because some don't have enough of some vitamins that r needed even if they r prenatal n may have to take an extra but just to make sure the levels let ur doc approve. My doc told me he could prescribed some or I could go over the counter but he wanted me to take them on my next prenatal appt so he can make sure they were ok. He was the one that told me not all prenatal have the recommended amt. N he also said I could take gummies but gummies don't have folic acid so a folic acid pill needs to be taken with gummies.

I was never prescribed prenantals, I went to Walmart and bought the generic brand, they have 2 pills you have to take daily, a smaller gel capsule and a larger pink pill. I have been told that these work just as well and every check up my levels are fine.

Don't forget to get folic acid also. If u go with gummies..gummies don't have enough folic acid some don't have any or some over the counter pill don't have enough of it.
