anyone else experiencing this major tmi?

I'm 29 weeks. Been not feeling well for about 14 days. Been to the Dr twice and prescribed antibiotics but told not to take more than halls for a cough that is persistent. So the last 5 days as I finished the antibiotics I noticed that I had diarrhea. Now I will cough to the point of vomiting especially in the mornings due to the excess mucus and also have diarrhea at the same time. Its embarrassing. My husband is very worried and I just feel awful.  I see the Dr again on Wednesday.  I feel excessive thirst too throughout the day maybe due to possible dehydration. Any thoughts?

If you eat yogurt while taking antibiotics it helps with the diarrhea immensely. While the antibiotics are fighting infection they are also killing good bacteria in your digestive track. Eating yogurt helps put some of that good bacteria back in your system

Add a probiotic to help with the diarrhea, it will balance the flora in your gut. They are also good for baby's developing skin! Get one with at least 10 different strains and a minimum of 10 billion organisms.

Try Powerade instead of Gatorade. I has having terrible headaches and was drinking Gatorade to stay hydrated and it wasn't doing the trick. My mom actually said to switch to Powerade, because it has no sodium and lower potassium than Gatorade. It did the trick. Coconut water works best, but with your bowel issues, it's probably not the direction you want to go.

Thanks! I have definitely been drinking lots of water. Lemon and ginger hot tea for my throat as well.  Will definitely try something with more electrolytes. Unfortunately my Dr is not a fan of listening to me. She has her own ideas of what I should be feeling during this pregnancy.

The diarrhea can be a side effect of the antibiotics. The mucus can be worse because you are not well hydrated. So your goal should be hydration. Ginger ale, broth, tea, sports drinks- any clear liquids that you can tolerate. Eating lighter can also help the phlegm from triggering the vomiting episodes. I'd also let your doctor know your trouble. There are medications that are safe to take that can help thin those secretions.

Half cup ginger ale and half cup fruit punch Gatorade...ginger for tummy and Gatorade to keep you hydrated...I had the same problem after I had my first baby...trust me it works, get a few bottles of each those cause you need to drink a cup every other hour
