For bumpers, they have mesh ones that are breathable. :-)

Just remember "back to sleep" the new saying for newborns :-)  I'm sure it will change in a few years, but currently, that's what they say. They have a sleeper in babies r us and buy buy baby that actually keeps the baby slightly elevated. Not sure if you plan on letting baby in your room at first. But I plan on using that when she arrives. It's about a 30° incline I would say and it can be rocked manually. My sister in law showed me and told about how great it was for her.  Good luck !

I've always used bumpers too. Had my other babies before they decided they weren't safe. However they have a new alternative to bumpers that keep baby from getting little arms or legs stuck between the bars without the risk of suffocation. I don't know what they call it but it's made of mesh.

Ive used the grow bags too.and I will again.brilliant things like I say mine never liked being swaddled infact I dont know any baby that has liked being swaddled.
Ive always used cot bumpers as when my first two were born it was advised  because little arms and legs can get caught inbetween the bars and accidents can happen.however im going to look into whats advisable now as Ive not heard anythung different and id prefer to be safe than sorry.from uk x

I didn't put the bumpers in because it was recommended by SIDS Australia (I'm In Australia lol) and I don't want to put bub at risk even if it is only a slight risk.

My boy hated being swaddled so I got him a gro bag. It's like a sleeping bag at the bottom and a singlet/shirt up top.
Even if baby can't grab things they wiggle and can knock stuff, like teddies over. Also my son slept slightly on his side I used a rolled up towel under the cot sheet to help with this. Like other ladies have said every baby is different, you will find what works for you.

Baby sleeps safest on its back. Also swaddling like was said before is good as well. And I am a FTM as well and was curious about what to put in crib and absolutely nothing but baby is reccomended. The AAP actually reccomends against crib bumpers as well. I was torn on this but after doing some reading I decided against a bumper. Of course many people have them and havent had a problem but I just couldn't allow myself to buy one after researching! All babies are different you'll figure out what your little one likes best!!

Speak to your heakth care provider this is my third baby and with the first two I was told to put one on her front andy second I was told to lay her on her back it seems to change every year
Also mine didnt like to be swaddled at all but they were quite long babies and didnt stay in moses basket for long.so that coild be the rwason why.each child is different youll find away that suots your baby best.
Ive also never put anyrhin in the cot.ariumd it yes e.g a mobile or prjeter that fastens to it and cot bumpers but thats it xx

You can buy these foam things kinda like this -\_/- lol! And baby slots into the middle and it keeps them in the correct position. Jolly Jumper brand do them, not sure if u can get that wherever you might be though!

Baby should be placed on their back and my Dr. actually suggested swaddling the baby so that he/she doesn't feel overwhelmed by so much space around them.  They say not to put anything in the crib that's loose.  I thought about it too before and I was thinking, well a baby can't grab a teddy bear in the opposite corner... Idk.. They say nothing loose...blankets, pillows, baby books, stuffed animals, etc.  So I guess nothing but baby it is...

Hope This Helps...Tiff
