braxton hicks... or something more?

what do Braxton hicks feel like. I'm not sure what I'm having, it feels like someone is getting clamps and twisting the tip of my cervix. It last about five seconds and it happens about every 30 min. I'm not sure what to do my ob is closed today, and I don't want to go to the hospital if it's nothing... I'm 31 weeks

Thanks everyone it helps a lot. There are no after hours it's just the regular clinic hours or hospital. We live in the smallest hick town... So far I've only had 4 today. I'm just hoping they'll stay minimal. I'm calling my Dr first thing tomorrow.

I had the same pain and called the on call. They told me instead of coming to hospital right away. Drink 32oz of water in 25 mins and then lay on either your left side  or right side. Then if you feel 4 or more contractions in an hour to call them back.

Ur tummy but its not the baby doc told me that is ur uterus preparing itself for labor (braxton hicks)

Does the OB office have an after hours pager? You might want to call and see. Or call the hospital and ask to talk with a nurse.
