I breastfed my son. I was afraid that it would be weird too, but wasn't at all. I was only able to breastfeed for 6 months but he has always been so healthy. He is now 7 and has never had an ear infection and just had his first sore throat this year.

I thought I would feel uncomfortable breast feeding my son so I never even tried. To be honest it is one thing I regretted. I plan to try this time around and to pump if breastfeeding isnt for me and supplementing with formula. Formula isnt a bad thing if breastfeeding doesnt work out or if you just decide to formula feed right off the bat.  We as parents have tons of decisions ahead of us so dont lose sleep over it and dont listen to anyone beong negative. Congrats on your pregnancy :)

The baby's saliva has properties that actually tell your breast milk what his or her body needs. Without the contact to the breast, that will be missing. May i suggest doing plenty of research on the benefits of breastfeeding (: whatever you choose, good luck!

If you can at least let the baby suck for few weeks it will help your milk come in faster and produce it better.

The pump and the baby are very different. I breastfed but my son had issues latching on and it hurt so i pumped once or twice its harder to get milk to let down try looking at your baby while you do it :)

I personally would encourage you to breastfeed :) it is such a joy .

Its your decision enjoy your little one when they finally come :)

But if baby gets used to a nipple its super harder to get them to latch on to the breast. My son was a preemie so hearing him cry knowing he was so tiny n hungry was heartbreaking and he couldn't latch good I supplement ed formula and pumped so he used  bottle

If the baby has issues latching a d you don't pump it will slow your milk from comming in. It doesn't hurt if you have a vaginal but after my section it was pretty uncomfortable

I heard pumpin hurts worse us jf u start pumpin the first 6 weeks it keeps you from producing ad nuch as you could.    Apparently the suckin of a baby is way better thn a mechanical pump to really get ur body going.

I am pretty sure I am going to pump and bottle feed breast milk since I am going back to work after my son is born. I will probably breast feed the first 2 weeks though.

Im Almost 10 wks and I'm only going to try And breast feed  for the first few days while I have the colostrum. Its the best stuff for baby and with my last two boys I tried so hard and my milk had issues coming in so I was a wreck. And no pumping doesn't hurt its just a strange feeling BC it makes your uterus contract.
