people in my family have strange auto-immune systems
however my mom is allergic to the entire cabbage/broccoli family, but those vegetables are much more closely related

being allergic to one thing doesn't mean you are are allergic to everything in the same family - i know very few people that are allergic to both latex and bananas - yes those two ARE in the same family

USUALLY people are allergic to one or the other. Its not uncommon to be prescribed one if allergic to the other. May I ask what your allergic reaction to it is? Some people think they are allergic to something but a reaction doesnts always mean allergy. Like itching for example isn't necessarily anallergy. Just a reaction to something fforeign in your body. Antibiotics carry a 80% chance of reaction not allergy in most people. But, if you really are allergic to both-clyndamiacin is a good alternative and carrys a super low ALLERGY risk
and safe during pregnancy after 2nd trimester.
Not trying to be a know it all but sometimes people arnt clear on this subject and I know from experience its scary being prescribed anything when your pregnant.

I'm also allergic to amoxicillin but my doctor prescribed me another type of cillin drug in the beginning of my pregnancy cause I had a bad cold that wouldn't go away. They said they would rather have me try it then continue with my cold. It worked for me and I had no reaction.

prescribing penicillin is not uncommon - it is actually pretty standard with an amox allergy, as they are very different
Keflyx is not penicillin - my grandmother use to take keflyx, she was allergic to penicillin

Keflex is NOT a penicillin so that's the right med for you. Its a cephalosporin.

If your allergic to amox then he should not have given you penicillin, period. If they want to experiment with it aftet your pregnancy is over and see how it affects you- then fine... but pregnancy is a time to play it all safe. Make them give you something else. What do you have to where you need antibiotics? I had 4 UTI's this pregnancy and was given macrobid

Call the Dr back and have them write you a different Rx then. You do need to treat whatever infection you have... And Elvendork yes! We get that a lot and parents freak lol Its kinda interesting how there's such a reaction.

The amox can interact with viruses and chase a rash to. They figured out my brother had mono that way, they thought it was an infection, he took amoxicillin abs broke out in a rash. The doc looked at and said it was text book reaction of mono and amoxicillin

Sometimes people who are allergic to amoxicillin aren't actually allergic to amoxicillin. A lot of times the illnesses that amox is used to treat can cause a rash as well which is why many people who aren't really allergic get labeled as having an allergy... There is also the possibility that it's only amox you are allergic to and not penicillins as a whole. Also some penicillins have additives in them which changes the makeup of the med and makes it less likely that you'll have a reaction to it. (The additives actually make the med work better for more resistant infections however ota coincidental that your less likely to react)
