A hole in your heart (heart murmur) is actually very common in newborns and usually resolves on its own. In some cases, the baby requires minor surgery, but it most often is asymptomatic. I was born with a murmur and it healed on its own. I am a nurse and this was one of the things I was surprised to learn in nursing school.

I believe in the power of prayer and the healing hand of God. I would refuse to accept this and expect God to work a miracle. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I am praying for you. I have heard that sometimes this can be a false positive. I know someone who had multiple tests saying the baby would have a hole in the heart, but after delivery further testing was done and it was not there. Sometimes there is artifact that makes it look like there is a problem but there is not

My son has a vsd. They measured it not longer after he was born and decided it was only a small hole and could close by itself. He'll have another scan at 3yrs to make sure it has but otherwise it hasn't caused him any issues. We were told tho to keep an eye out for any unexplained fevers and let drs know just incase of infection but he's been fine so far. Wishing you and baby lots of luck that its only a minor one too!

My twins were born premature with holes in their hearts and one had an extra ventricle. They were monitored for 2 yrs after birth and slowly but surely they closed or got smaller. They are both active and energetic. Would never know they were premies or had heart problems. Yes its scary but you gotta stay strong and positive for your lil one.

As scary as this is (I couldn't imagine getting that news) there's so many advancements in technology try not to stress too much - it's pretty common to see and I'm sure your baby will grow into a happy healthy little boy :-) I'll be sending my thoughts to you!

With my first they told me there was a hole in my daughters heart. It scared the life out of me. She was born at 36 weeks and 3 days. Weighing in at 6 lbs 14oz. She was healthy as can be. She is now 7 still living with a hole in her Herat. She wears a heart monitor and goes to the cardiologist every 2 months. She is not on any medication. You baby will be fine. Just keep faith and hope

My friend's daughter was born the same way. She is perfectly healthy. She  did have surgery at the age of 5 to correct it. They didn't open her chest, they used cameras and tubes. She'll be 9 next month, normal little girl

A friend of mine has a hole in his heart and he is 27 now. He monitored monthly as an infant every three months and a toddler every six months as a child. He never had any issues and was/is very active. Don't stress yourself out, remember stress isn't good for a pregnancy. Stay positive and continue to love your baby is all you can do right now. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
