glucose test

hi i am wonderin about this glucose test this is my 1st pregnancy in was wonderin bout the precedure..thanks

I am terrified of needles as well. I let them know up front and they are usually pretty good about it. The drink gave me an upset tummy (I've been pretty sickxcept the last month or so), but as soon as I was able to belch it helped a bit. I went and ate right after. I was starving.

Shaebug- I have been nauseous throughout my pregnancy and for this test I puked out the fluid I felt much better after lol bc the nurse who was doing the.procedure said it was fine so just do what your body tells u to do but ya the hour went by fast which is nice but it ***** when u have to fast and my baby when he is hungry I get stomach pains lol so Im not looking forward to that test second time around if we have another baby

thanks my doc said it should take an hr so im guessin its the hr test and from the sound of things i am not looking forward to it!! i hate needles and been throwin up my whole pregnancy..ugh

With mine i had to fast for 12 hours i showed up and they took like 7 vials of blood and checked my sugar before making me drink the drink with my experience ask for the orange flavored one with this last test i had they had to give me one and a half of the orange one cuz i was supposed to have a75mg drink and the orange was only 50mg but I've had the other flavors and i couldn't drink them i kept throwing them up bcuz they tasted so so nasty so depending on your test and the amount of glucose your Dr has ordered they should be able to adjust it and let you have the orange it tastes more like an uncarbonated orange pop so it's really no where near as bad as the other flavors but that's just my view of it and then yeah you have to just wait around for an hour get blood drawn again if it's a3 hour test i had to get blood drawn once every hour so it was a lot of pokes :(

I read somewhere that someone else has blood drawn first then drank the teat. So sounds like it varys a bit. They recommend not eating about 2 hours before if it is the 1 hour test. You have to fast if its the 3 hour. They make you drink this surgery drink in 5 min. Then you just hang out for an hour til they pull a couple vials of blood. With the test I found out I was anemic, so they check that too. I didn't have a urine test.

It's pretty easy they will.give you a sugar drink to drink then make you sit for an hour or so. Then.take blood. Check if its a fasting one though. I wasn't aloud to eat for 2 hours prior to mine. Sometimes depending on the test its longer. Mine also took a urine test at the same time.
