Has anyone gotten a perm or other chemical process done while pregnant or right after baby? I know pregnancy can and usually does change ph and what not of ur skin and possibly hair. Any outcome different than expected?

I will be 26 weeks tomorrow and still put chemicals in my hair. My hair takes the relaxer just fine. It's all up to you if you want to chance it or not? My stylist said sometimes, due to the hormonal change, your hair may not process the chemical like normal. Good luck and best wishes!

I'm a hair stylist and I'm gonna color my hair after the first trimester. Semi and demi hair colors have no ammonia so if your worried about that then that's the way to go. I have colored many pregnant ladys hair and even a pregnant doctors hair and even she thought it was Ok. I honestly wouldn't do a perm though just Cuz a perm has to go through a chemical process to actually work but I have seen some pregnant ladys get it done. So really its up to you. As for the skin.. I'm not 100% sure.  I would call a spa and ask an esthetician their opinion.

I have colored and permed my hair in my first pregnancy...my hair actually took to it better the perm stayed longer then normal.

22 weeks pregnant now and I colored my hair about 4 weeks ago and next week I will be perming it!

I've been licensed for over 10 years now to do hair and the only thing that I have notice with coloring or perming on (myself or) pregnant women is it may not take or last as long.

There is always a risk of becoming sick due to the odor of the chemicals so just make sure it's preformed in a well ventilated area!

It is also advised to wait until second trimester for the fact the hormones level out which makes your hair more stable!

I got highlights a week ago at end of my 2nd trimester and from being pregnant my hair has become a lot more thinner it actually  burned some of my hair. So if you think there has been a change in your hair I would definitely be careful.
